Bret/Diesel neck and neck! Man I can watch their 4 PPV matches during this era over and over.
And don't forget their little less known match on Wrestlefest 94 where Diesel pins Bret Hart after Owen Hart interfered!!

That feud spanned nearly two years and all four of there matches are classics. Bret gets all the credit for getting Austin over in ‘96/97, but I don’t think he gets enough credit for getting Diesel over either. Without those matches with Bret, no way Diesel gets over like he did.

"Diesel cool, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, heartbreaker!"
It's great to see so much Big Daddy Cool love. I figured Bret would take the win in this, but I actually figured Diesel would be dead last because everyone speaks so badly about the 1995 year and the era of Big Daddy Cool's WWF Title reign.

Honestly Diesel was far from the worst thing in 1995. Yeah, it sucked Vince tried turning him into another “Uber babyface” like Hogan, but he still had a badass streak to his persona. When I was a kid, it was literally Bret, Diesel, Taker, and Razor that kept me watching the WWF (HBK was there but he never drew me in like the others did). And considering the talent Diesel had to work with (or lack of talent), I’d say he was easily a highlight of 1995. While the nWo would have never been what it was without him, I’ve always wondered how Diesel’s WWF career would have continued going forward (he was originally booked to beat Taker at WM12 before he gave his notice so Vince clearly still had big plans for him).
