Was trying to decide if I should post it here or in the sports section. Sad news to hear. And for those who may not know, it's Walter Payton's son that he's giving the interview to, announcing this.

Such a horrible disease. I've known a couple of people who have died from that.

Sad news. Was never a fan of him in the ring but being from Chicago, the guy is a sports legend around here. Well wishes for him and his family.

About two years ago I bought a giant lot of sports cards and I was so happy to find Steve McMichael football cards in the lot.
"Mongo" was a true character in pro wrestling. He was the charismatic one for LT's team at Wrestlemania XI, and it didn't shock me when WCW got a hold of him a few months later for WCW Nitro.
I know Mongo wasn't the greatest wrestler, but being older now and looking back at him, he was actually really great on the stick. He could cut a promo, and I wonder if he had signed with the WWF back then and had proper training that he would have been a better wrestler in the ring.
Still, Mongo is a class act!

Sad news while he wasn’t a favorite of mine I still respect what he did. Such a horrible disease about 7 or 8 years ago I had a high school friend pass away from it. She was 46 or 47 when she passed.

Really sad news. Mongo was a pretty fun addition to the WCW roster, IMO. Not the best in-ring, but really good behind the mic.

Sad to hear. Never really cared for his wrestling days but, he was one hell of an NFL player.

ALS is never easy for anyone, but it makes you wonder someone like Mongo, who had the years in football and wrestling, if it just hits them a bit harder mentally. Your life was about all this physicality, and then you're faced with your body breaking down like that.

Every wrestler who ever worked with always saw how great a guy he was. He oozed charisma.

Chris Jericho steps up huge again for his fellow wrestler.
I see Chris donated $2,500 to the Go Fund Me page for Mongo.
