...been alive for its creation?
I know she wasn't exactly a "Meltzer five-star" worker like the Bucks or Omega, and had her demons, but I feel like with Attitude folks like Gunn and Goldust on regularly, Chyna could have eventually made an appearance, or even worked a program in a wrestling or non-wrestling role (her name was money, even just her real name, and it seems like to the end she wasn't on great terms with WWE). Could you have seen Chyna working with AEW if she had been alive for its creation?

I think it's pretty much safe to say any "legend" that wasn't doing something with WWE would have popped up in AEW for something, somewhere.

I don't want to engage in a battle here. I'm thinking more of a program, even a schedule on par with Gunn/Goldust. They don't work every week, but they are big Attitude Era names. Laurer would have come for something like that if the money had been right (and she had been in the right place mentally, and had been clean; plus I think she'd like the idea of re-connecting with old friends like Gunn, Jim Ross, Dustin, etc.). I think Khan has the amount of money it would have taken. He likes the idea of using big names to bring in viewers and then hooking them with the young folks; see Paul Wight. I think Laurer fits that category perfectly. Lots of her demons trace back to the Triple H/Stephanie/Laurer drama, and seeing a new major company up and active could have given her a fresh new outlook, perhaps something that would motivate her to get clean and begin working again (she'd be in her 50s, so again, part-time would be the name of the game). I would think she'd like the idea of building younger talent, and the subject is worth talking about. Lots of what-ifs, without doubt, but it's worth discussing. D'Lo working a similar schedule would be worth some attention on discussion boards as well. it's not about a battle, but when you have several members asking you to just cut it out with threads that don't have tremendous depth or conversational range or relevance and you choose to ignore that and steamroll on, it needs to be called out. it's not too much of a request to ask that you filter yourself for our sake. we don't need 5 threads from you on wf a week. I'm asking this sincerely. Most of the threads receive at least a standard amount of replies from what I can tell. Conversational scope is pretty much on par with every other topic. Never any issues mentioned by administrators, as far as the concerns you brought up. Another thing to keep in mind, these boards just aren’t as active as they were 15 years ago. Not even close. Best wishes either way.

Man, I totally get where you’re coming from in terms of criticism for some of my posts. I think you really value serious, here-and-now, practical discussion; “Where is AEW lacking in building new stars?” would be a much better topic idea than asking if a woman who left WWF 20 years ago and died five years ago would have had a run with AEW, as far as your tastes go. I get it. But that’s all subjective; the more abstract or surreal stuff has a following, or even just mildly out-of-the-box stuff (which is how I’d categorize this particular thread). And I’d get the limiting your topic creation number concern if the boards were as active as they were in 2006. At the end of the day, it’s all about flavors of ice cream. Every type of thread has a following of some sort, and whether a thread is good or not is completely subjective. As long as I’m not making a post about a Sesame Street episode from 1975 that has nothing to do with wrestling, it all works. Again, every type receives at least a standard number of responses, and if there were a problem with topic amount I’d be fine to speak with an administrator. I’ve always enjoyed your posts, personally. -MT

I will say that I do welcome more threads, even if the same member is creating them. Years ago this forum was buzzing with so many different topics, but now things have got really slow.
Even when threads are made, they don't get as many responses as they used to.

I think before she died, she quietly retired from the wrestling business. I can't see her going to any company in particular.`

Like said a few posts above, if anyone isn't working for WWE in some way and had a huge or big enough name in the twilight of wrestling popularity then yes, they would appear on AEW some how. Chyna is no different.
It was back in 2010 I believe where TNA Wrestling had her appear on their PPV to tag with Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Jarrett and Karen Jarrett. So I do believe Chyna would have showed up at least once for AEW.

If the Ultimate Warrior, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Dusty Rhodes and the Road Warriors were still with us, they wouldve made appearances in AEW.

Probably. She had that TNA run so I don’t see why not.

I don't think so. A name is only a name and you can only milk something so long if there isn't anything there.
In her prime in the WWF, the matches weren't great. I'm not knocking her and I don't want to talk down about someone who's passed away, but let's call a spade a spade; some people are better in the ring than others, she was the latter. Doesn't mean she didn't have other positive qualities. She was a star in her time.
The thing is, what made her a star was her look. Specifically her size and how muscular she was. Except for Nicole Bass, we'd never seen a woman like that in wrestling. If Chyna was still alive today, she'd be 52. In the years leading up to her death, she was no longer that physical specimen. That's not saying she couldn't have gotten into "some type" of shape, but it wouldn't be "Chyna shape". And when your whole gimmick was the shape you were in, "some shape" wouldn't have cut it, it would have needed to be "CHYNA SHAPE".
But if she doesn't look like Chyna used to look, she's no longer the "9th wonder of the world"....then really all you are doing is trying to cash in on the Chyna name and the Legacy of what she did in the past to try and get a rating or sell some tickets or whatever...
It's like Goldberg....every time we see him now, he's in less and less "Goldberg" shape, and for the first time he actually didn't look that good at the Royal Rumble. Goldberg could never work. Not even in 1997. But what he had was the way he looked. If he doesn't look like that monster anymore, then what exactly is the appeal other than cashing in on nostalgia and a name?
So if the matches are going to be what they are going to be, the person needs to at least LOOK the part. An older out of shape person isn't really great for marketing your product, especially if the main thing that made that person a star when they were younger was how good their body was.
Basically what I'm saying is Chyna was a star because of her size/muscles....if the muscles are gone, what's the draw?
I wish she was still alive, but my opinion is that she would not have been a fit for AEW at this current time.

I would have loved the idea more of Luna Vachon managing Orange Cassidy if he turned heel in AEW.

She would have needed to conquer her demons and unfortunately she wasn’t able to
