Today is something that the more I think about it the more it annoys me this was not the direction they went today we are discussing,
What If: Lex Luger Joined The Million Dollar Corporation At SummerSlam 1994?
I loved Lex Luger, I thought he was pretty damn awesome, while he would never in a million years have surpassed Bret Hart during this time, I still enjoyed his work. In 1994 he would enter into a program with Tatanka where Tatanka was accusing him of "selling out" and that he was in cahoots with Ted Dibiase and his corporation. Even back then I could see what was coming a mile off, Tatanka was the one who sold out and joined the corporation. For the rest of 1994, we had this half-assed feud with Lex and the corporation that he actually lost!
To me, Lex Luger came off as a total moron and chump during this feud, how the heck did they not have him be the one to go over, it was like after Survivor Series 1994, it was just forgotten. But, what if at SummerSlam 1994 they change their minds and decided that Lex was going to join? I think that this would have been great for the WWF. It would have given Tatanka a shot in the arm and a program that people could get behind as after his loss to Ludiv Borga he was just pretty much there. More importantly than that, A heel Luger to go against people like Bret Hart and Diesel would have been pretty damn awesome.
You do also have to wonder about a ripple effect if this did happen. Had Luger turned heel and become a bigger part of the show, does he still want to leave in 1995? Also, does Bulldog turn heel towards the end of 1995, if they already have Lex in that role?
I would love to read your thoughts on how you think Lex Luger being the one to join the Million Dollar Corporation would have changed things going forward for the WWF .

I agree, I think they should have had him turn heel on Tatanka and had him go back to his Total Package persona from the early 90s in WCW. I think having him as the leader of the Million Dollar Corporation would have been much better. Nothing against Backlund, but I think Owen could have helped Luger beat Bret for the title at Survivor Series 1994 instead, then they could have set up a rematch at the Royal Rumble with Owen and the Anvil interfering in the match costing Bret the belt again that night. Diesel could have won the Rumble by eliminating Shawn last setting up their feud for after WrestleMania. Then Diesel could have beaten Luger at WM11 for the title since that was the direction the company wanted to go at that time. Bret and Owen could have concluded their feud from the previous Royal Rumble/WrestleMania in 1994, with a match at WrestleMania 11. It could have been built as Owen and Anvil vs. Bret and Davey Boy, but with the Anvil getting fired again, Owen brings in a mystery partner for the match with it being Yokozuna. I would give Bret the clean win over Owen, keeping Yokozuna strong here. Owen and Yoko can win the tag titles from the Smoking Gunns at the next PPV - which I believe would the 1st In Your House. Bret could eventually finish his feud with Luger and get his win back at this event as well, then go on to feud with Lawler, Yankem and Hakushi. After WrestleMania, also at the 1st In Your House, Shawn and Diesel could feud, have them go with the same finish they did at WM11 (the one that actually happened not my scenario above) with Sid "costing" Shawn the title, the next night on Raw Sid turns on Shawn, Shawn becomes a good guy and the Sid/Diesel feud is off and running. Then everything that happened after that could have remained the same, though, I would have had Bigelow win the KOTR tournament and face Diesel at Summer Slam 95 instead of Mabel.

The entire WWF career of Lex Luger is just frustrating.
Heel run as WWF Champion as The Narcissist?? Nope!
Baby face run as WWF Champion at SummerSlam 93 then?? Nope!
Okay.... IC Title run as a baby face in 1994 then?? Nope!
Right.... okay, a heel turn at SummerSlam 94 and an IC Title feud with Razor Ramon?? Nope!
Gotcha.... so uh, WWF Tag Title reign with the British Bulldog in 1995?? Nope!
Well.... oh wait, I got it! Leaving the WWF to appear on WCW Nitro unannounced, starting the Monday Night War between WCW and the WWF?? Okay!!!

Ahhh great topic again man 👏👌
A heel turn for Luger would have been a shrewd & clever move.
He was a natural heel & the USA craic had wore itself out. He even had a reason to turn because the crowd chose Bret. Chavis wasn't talented enough on the stick to get over as a great heel. Luger was...
Also I've said this before..Vince had too many faces & f#ck all credible heels in 94/95..he was getting ready to turn Nash. Luger would have taken his spot amongst the heel ranks nicely.
Turning Luger heel would have presented MANY fresh scenarios for Vince.

Also meant to say,, I still see Luger returning to WCW in 1995. The easier. Schedule & whole upswing of WCW would have made it super attractive.
WCW was home for him...

Between WM11 and Summer Slam 95, the only top heels in the company that I can think of were Sid, Owen & Yoko, everyone else was mid-card at best. For the faces, they had Bret, Diesel, Shawn, Taker, Davey Boy, Lex, Razor and Bam Bam. They really needed a top singles heel at this time and I think Lex as his Total Package gimmick would have been the best option. If they had Bret, Diesel, Shawn, Taker, Razor and Bam Bam as the top faces with Lex, Davey Boy, Owen, Yoko and Sid as the top heels, the roster would have been more balanced, and maybe more enjoyable to watch.

There are a few guys who just were WCW guys and would never do well in WWF. Flair was one of them as were Windham despite coming and going there a few times. WCW just had a different style that worked well for them and it's not a knock on talent because all of them were talented.
