SCENARIO: It's 2021, but for some reason we're full-swing in the middle of the 16-bit SNES/Genesis era!
YOU work for Acclaim, and have been put in charge of deciding the roster for the next WWE SNES/Genesis release!
Rules are: 1. You can pick 12 wrestlers for your starting out-of-the-box roster, and ONLY TWELVE. There is no such thing as DLC in this era. Pick more than 12 starters, and you will be fired. 2. You can only pick from full-time current roster wrestlers for your starters. So no Cena, Taker, Rock, etc. Injured wrestlers (as long as they are current) or storyline off-TV (think Bryan) are safe. 3. You have been given the green light to add 2 WWE Legends (and ONLY TWO) which will be accessible only by cheat code. Once accessed, they are unlocked permanently, making your final roster count 14. Only Legends for the hidden 2 spots, no current guys. 4. You CAN have a different roster for each of the systems. An example would be: both systems have McIntyre, but Styles is SNES-only, whereas the Genesis has an exclusive wrestler in Cesaro. The different rosters is NOT mandatory; you can have the same set for each system. Let's see your picks!

Very fun thread idea!
So I came up with this:
1. AJ Styles 2. Bobby Lashley 3. Braun Strowman 4. Drew McIntyre 5. Karrion Kross (SNES)/Kevin Owens (Genesis) 6. Kofi Kingston 7. Randy Orton 8. Rey Mysterio 9. Roman Reigns 10. Seth Rollins 11. The Fiend 12. Xavier Woods 13. Hulk Hogan 14. Steve Austin
But then I also realized I didn't include any of the women so I did it again which has the roster looking like this:
1. AJ Styles 2. Asuka (Genesis)/Kofi Kingston (SNES) 3. Becky Lynch 4. Bobby Lashley 5. Braun Strowman 6. Drew McIntyre 7. Randy Orton 8. Rey Mysterio 9. Rhea Ripley 10. Roman Reigns 11. Seth Rollins 12. The Fiend 13. Hulk Hogan 14. Steve Austin
I really wanted to put Finn Balor, Charlotte Flair, and Bianca Belair on there too, but they were just edged out by the others.

First off I must say Randy Orton would be the cover star of the game. But here's the roster. Randy Orton Drew McIntyre Bobby Lashely Roman Reigns Seth Rollins Rey Mysterio Braun Strowman Daniel Bryan The Miz Kevin Owens Cesaro Kofi Kingston (SNES Exclusive)/Xavier Woods (Sega Genesis Exclusive) Unlockable Legends: The Undertaker & Triple H (If the game has some sort of story mode, Trips and Taker would be the final bosses. You face Undertaker at WrestleMania in the end of the SNES story. Triple H plays the same role in the Genesis version. They will both be in both games, but swap story roles in the different versions.)
But imagine this exact concept for a modern day WWF Attitude on PlayStation and Nintendo 64.

Great thread idea. I remember being so jealous when the Megadrive got Ultimate Warrior and British Bulldog on Super WrestleMania.
With such a limited roster, assuming that intergender fights aren’t allowed, I’d have to go with an all-male roster for WWE THUNDERDOME. Maybe the 32X Mega CD version would add Asuka, Flair, Belair, Bayley, Bliss, Baszler, Banks and Ripley.
For my 12 I’d go with:
Roman Reigns Drew McIntyre Bobby Lashley Randy Orton The Fiend (SNES)/Sheamus (Sega) Kevin Owens (SNES)/Kofi Kingston (Sega) Big E (SNES)/Xavier Woods (Sega) Seth Rollins Riddle (SNES)/John Morrison (Sega) Shinsuke Nakamura Jeff Hardy (SNES)/Rey Mysterio (Sega) The Miz
Legends: John Cena Undertaker

I used to go around quoting those when I was little, my favorite one was Steve Austin's "you p*ss me off"

I don't know as many current stars, but will say Acclaim had character based fatality-esque finishers that went with each wrestler, which may help decide a roster. Who all has that "thing". I can think of some for say Riddle, Randy Orton, Miz and Morrison, AJ, KO, Zayne, Cesaro. Not sure whom else though....
Doink would be unlockable for sure on the Snes.
