Hi there just curious about your thoughts on the Mattel Basics, what are the pros and cons, do you get them? When was the last time you got a Basic? I was considering getting the Lars Sullivan basic. He should have got an Elite but it's difficult to think what accessories they could have put him with.

A cheaper figure and an easier way to get out more first time in the line figures and more versions of wrestlers. I collect to display so I don’t have the same distain for them that some have based on articulation. Plus they are good if you have kids or have kids in your family that want figures. Honestly, I have the Phoenix Gargano and it may be one of my favorite figures. Looks great on display. Basics have their place and still sell.

I love some of the Basics I have. A lot of times I'll buy them, uncertain as to whether or not an Elite may come around. Other times I like a guy enough to pick up his Basic, and if an Elite comes along down the line, I can replace it. I don't typically display them in line with my Elites (only one I have up there is Andre from the WrestleMania carts), but I feel like they have their place in my collection.
Last one I bought was Dijak like, a week or two ago.

They mean more figures on the shelf. There’s certain wrestlers I want but not enough to spend $20 for an elite. So I buy the basic.

Not much. I have 2 Sasha’s MOC that I really like, a Sami I got for free, a monsters Asuka/zombie Sasha that were really cheap, and a Keith Lee I bought because at one point I was tired of leaving stores empty handed constantly. That’s the extent of basics in my collection. I will be adding the Drew/Rollins championship showdown figures soon as I really want a Rollins in that Messiah look and the figure looks really good.

Ultimate Warrior has a bunch of really cool basics. I had just about all of them at one point before thinning out my collection last year. And I still have my Slaughter basic....he's displayed with my GI Joe classified figures. He's too short to be displayed with the other Mattel Elites but the perfect size for the Joes. So yeah, I'm okay with basics

To me nothing but a part swap when they used to be all interchangeable
They’re good to be on the shelves for kids or people who collect only one person
I stick to elites unless I need a head swap now

If it’s someone I like in an outfit they don’t have an elite of I get them. There isn’t a Summerslam 04 elite Orton, but there’s a great basic of it. Same with some of the tshirt series/entrance greats/fan central, etc…
Honestly basics are fine for what most people on here do with them which isn’t playing on the floor with them, but putting them on a shelf or in a plastic tote never to be seen again.

Theyre the base of the line. Mattel should release more FTITL, unique attires and even some Legends as Basics. Its kind of funny seeing people whine and complain about Basics that they are not going to buy and if you go to RSCs Instagram whenever they reveal Basic prototypes, you have all these commenters crying about how they shouldve been Elites.

I only have two....the network spotlight Sting & the neon green Starrcade 90 Sting....I don’t care for the basic line honestly, to me most lack detail & a lot aren’t scaled accurately either as is the case with the green Sting, while even kept Moc it doesn’t take much to notice that it’s shorter than the network spotlight & his elite figures....basics work for some & that’s awesome but overall they’re an easy pass for me....I only bought those two because I’m a huge Sting mark & they’re surfer versions which we didn’t get many of or at least not near as many as we should have had

Sorry, what does FTITL mean? First time in the line Thank you. It seems that Basics enhances the collection. In the early series, they never released The Big Show in black singlet attire in Elite form but it was in Basics form and I think he was a big enough superstar at the time where he was necessary to be in the early series collection.

If it’s Warrior, Macho, or Foley I’ll grab no matter what. Rest are pretty much passes unless they have parts that I could use for fixups.

So Basics pretty much suck, and I dont buy them. However. There are exceptions. If its a suited guy, I'll snag it. Womens figures, I'll buy a basic. Thats pretty much it.

Some basics are better than elites and I display my figures so don't care about articulation.
Also basics are the most important line in all of the series. They are affordable for kids and the most distributed.

I like the basics especially when starting from the beginning in 2010, there's a pretty big roster of them. Even now with the less articulation I still get the basics, want at least 1 of everyone on the roster, but don't find getting elites of most guys necessary. The only elites I get are the flashbacks, and if it's people I like.
