Not surprised really, as we have seen in the past. If someone does not take to the product quick enough as an announcer, Vince doesn't keep them around.

Shocked he lasted this long.
Doing the WWE gig is totally different than ESPN.

Vince wanted a different voice. He obviously didn't like Adnan's.

I miss Josh Matthews, 2005 Coach & Joey Styles on commentary.

This guy deserves all the credit in the world. Not only did he have to watch RAW in it’s entirety each week, he had to act like it was good.

I'm surprised they gave him the position to begin with. I haven't watched much of Raw recently but the few moments I did hear Adnan's commentary it seemed like he was out of his element. You need passion for the industry to sit in that chair and it's very apparent when somebody on commentary doesn't have that level of interest in the product.
I think WWE should relegate people with broadcaster backgrounds (be it local news or something as big as ESPN) to backstage correspondent roles and reserve commentary roles for either wrestlers (retired or on the IR list) or broadcasters that have knowledge and interest in wrestling i.e., Pat McAfee, Mauro Ranallo, Samoa Joe.
On the surface that sounds like common sense but it seems like every so often WWE will snatch up a broadcaster from the sports world to bring some sort of real sports credibility to WWE programming and it completely backfires. Another example that comes to mind for this is Mike Adamle from a long time ago.

He tried, but it’s been about two months now and he really hasn’t gotten any better. Sounds like a nice enough guy but clearly wasn’t the answer.

That's too bad. I don't know if he was any good (sounds like no), I just remember him hosting some NFL show with Tony Mandarich in Canada 15+ years ago and thought it was awesome he was now doing play-by-play for Raw.

A sports announcer trying to call a sports entertainment show.... never works.

I don’t know why they thought it was a good idea bringing him in to begin with. It was the same issue with Mike Adamle but Virk wasn’t nearly as bad.

Fair play to Adnan, he gave it his best shot. Hopefully they realise how much of an asset Tom Phillips is though and give him a permanent home on Monday nights. Crazy the amount of times they've tried to replace him with zero success.

Crazy the amount of times they've tried to replace him with zero success. Because he is technically fine but he is also bland, so they will use him when they need someone but will always search for someone better. Time to bring Nigel back! Alright maybe Nigel can’t be a lead announcer but honestly I don’t know who they should get. Most of the indie announcing I hear is trash too.

Announcing right now is trash. Outside of Graves, Nigel and Barrett.
It makes all promotions tough to watch. AEW, Impact, WWE, ROH.

Ian and Colt were good, they played off one another, however Caprice just doesn’t have it either and hasn’t gotten any better in two years. But yea impact stinks too. AEW I like parts of their commentary but I have problems with all their commentators on some level.

He can talk wrestling one on one, but isn’t a broadcaster.

MLW announcers are boring as hell, and Kevin Gill is the worst announcer in all of wrestling and that’s really saying something.
