Ian and Colt were good, they played off one another, however Caprice just doesn’t have it either and hasn’t gotten any better in two years. But yea impact stinks too. AEW I like parts of their commentary but I have problems with all their commentators on some level. I’ve always thought Colt was awful in a commentator position. He can talk wrestling one on one, but isn’t a broadcaster. I always liked Colt cause he would explain why a move hurt, what it was doing. I always thought it lended credibility to the team.

I can’t say I watch a whole lot of Raw these days, but the times I did you could tell he wasn’t going to last.

What does one have to do with the other? Yeah Michael Cole sucks, but he’s like a teacher with tenure, he’s not going anywhere.

Again we’re talking about a quarter of a century difference in time and how the company perceives things. Also Cole started as a small time backstage announcer and worked up to Smackdown, to Raw lead announcer, etc... Virk was thrown into the deep end immediately sink or swim. Guess they aren’t so similar.

You absolutely cannot make any kind of comparison between Cole and Virk.
Cole is involved in talent relations and has been for a long time. Has a very good relationship with Vince and does all the right things to stay with the company.
I will say that I have not watched Raw for a long time, but have seen clips on Facebook and YouTube, and Virk just seemed completely out of his element.

Adnan tried but he just wasn't cut out for it, Biggest mistake was releasing Samoa Joe, he was pretty good at commentary. They would have been better off rehiring Aiden English and putting him on commentary he was decent. Commentary will never be like a Gorilla Monsoon/ Bobby Heenan, Jesse Ventura, Vince McMahon/ Jesse Ventura, Ted Dibiase, Mr. Perfect combo. They had the chemistry to make the matches and the product that much better. Before they throw these guys on have them watch some of the old commentary from the 80's-90's.

You know who someone should take a flyer on for commentary with only a small sampling size? Alex Shelley, the few times I heard him do commentary in TNA and ROH he was just fantastic. He totally got it on a small sampling.

Some dude named Jimmy Smith from Bellator has taken his spot. He was apparently the runner up after Virk for the spot. Didn’t watch Bellator so not familiar with his work.

I miss Josh Matthews, 2005 Coach & Joey Styles on commentary. Josh Matthews' voice is the reason I haven't watched Impact in years.

Whats with WWE firing EVERYONE!? Not saying they all don't deserve it but, it does seem like being an employee at WWE isn't reliable.

We weren't talking about how the company perceived things. You said you knew he wouldn't last. Most people thought that because he sucked. The problem with that kind of logic as a fan though is (as SAVE_US pointed out) Michael Cole. Him being employed counters the logic that Adnan Virk wasn't going to last. If Cole did, Adnan could. Sucking as a new announcer doesn't guarantee that you won't last. Michael Cole is the proof.
Michael Cole was on and off the Raw announce desk before Smackdown existed. He was calling Raw weekly for months at one point while Jim Ross was away. He was terrible, like Virk. And that's a massive fail on Vince McMahon's part. Seems like there was little to no thought put into his hiring. That's all on Vince.
People could see and hear that neither had any business calling a wrestling match. Adnan Virk didn't even watch wrestling. Cole did, and still called everything a "maneuver." Seven weeks into both of their lead Raw announcer "careers" both very similarly didn't belong.

If you wanna see Michael Cole calling his best with little to no production from Vince and Kevin Dunn go watch the cruiserweight classic. He was fantastic.

Some dude named Jimmy Smith from Bellator has taken his spot. He is also a black belt in BJJ and I have a couple of his MMA bouts on DVD. Not sure how he would handle Vince McMahon screaming in his ear all day and Brock Lesnar wont be F5ing him like he has done to previous Raw announcers.

Whats with WWE firing EVERYONE!? Not saying they all don't deserve it but, it does seem like being an employee at WWE isn't reliable. It's extremely volatile right now. Doesn't look good from the outside looking in. As for Virk, I liked Adnan a lot on ESPN, and I hoped he'd do well on WWE. He was certainly out of his element, and I'm not saying it worked, but I imagine he was doing what Vince wanted/expected. Vince just changes his mind so often, so that means another talent gets released. The commentary table has been a revolving door the last year or two, and Vince doesn't seem to think anyone can do it, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Vince himself back out there at this point.
