Just saw an Earthquake squash match & he did a chokeslam (granted it was two handed but still) Also forgot that he used Dino Bravo's French theme for a minute.

That's a really good question. I honestly don't even remember the first person I seen do it. It's just always been there for as long as I can remember that I never thought, "who was the first person to do that move??"

This was really an interesting question so I looked it up expecting maybe it was someone who worked in Japan in the 80s. Apparently the answer is Abraham Lincoln. As the story goes he got frustrated with an opponent, picked him up by the throat, and threw him to the ground.

911 is the first where it was called the choke slam from what I remember, but Scott Hall and Taker were doing versions that were just being called 'a maneuver' for some time.

They also say the ECW's 911 was the innovator of the move, but he didn't arrive in ECW until 1994, I know I saw Sid using this move in the WWF in 1991/92 (he did chokeslam Hogan at WM8). I know other wrestlers like Earthquake and Hogan were using the two-handed chokeslam/throw in the 80s. It would be interesting to see who actually used the move first.
