A lot of people seem to crap on the New Generation Era and say how much it sucked. They will also praise and put over the Attitue Era saying how great it was. Yes, Attitude Era was shocking and exciting each week on Raw, and even their PPVs, but I felt their matches were lackluster compared to the New Generation Era.
For New Generation Era, I could name off easily off the top of my head 10 matches that were worth while in watching. But I have a hard time doing the same for the Attitude Era.
So who had the better matches?? The New Generation Era or the Attitude Era??

Personally I liked the New Generation more. I feel the Attitude Era is way overrated. To me it was like every other era where it had it’s share of bad as well.

People associate the New Generation era with T.L. Hopper and The Goon. They associate the Attitude era with the Monday Night Wars and Stone Cold.
Neither is a complete picture of the respective eras.

The majority of the best WWF matches of all time are the ones Bret, Hennig, Flair, Bulldog, Owen, Shawn, Razor, Jarrett, Foley, Undertaker, Kid, Jannetty, Diesel, Austin etc were having in the early-mid 90s tbh.
The highs of the New Generation >>> the highs of any other era

I think the moments were much better during the attitude era, and some matches were really good. But I think the wrestling during the new generation was better overall. But then again, when you have Bret and Shawn in their primes, the wrestling is going to be better, those two would have to go out of their way to have a bad match. To me, the problem with the new generation era was they really didn't have a very deep roster. They had about 10-12 guys who were watchable at the time, the rest were either not ready for the WWF spotlight or their characters were really bad. The great thing about the Attitude/Monday Night Wars era (1997-2001) is, for much of that time you had two companies that were doing really well and if there was something you weren't interested in on the WWF you could always switch the channel over to WCW and find something (or vice versa).

Ehh I dunno really...NG had some awesome stuff but AE had some seriously fantastic matches too lads.
I think people crap on the NG because it was like watching paint dry(sometimes) with the Mantaurs, Boogers etc of the world going around.
Now...the AE had just as many sh#te gimmicks going around...but they also had 2 of the most magnetic stars in history there at the same time too no less.
For me? The NG lacked a standout guy. That's why it gets a hard time IMHO....

I think the attitude era was a rush to live through, but the brawling doesn't age as well looking back.

definitely the new gen - I really can't think of a WWF match 98/99 that was incredible from a wrestling stand point
Don't get me wrong, there were some decent to great ones like Hardys/Edge and Christian No Mercy 99, and Mankind/Taker KOTR which were special for different reasons, but really if you are comparing them, new gen beats out attitude in match quality.
There were a lot of moments that stood out in that time frame too, but until 2000 the wrestling to me, wasn't what it should be with what the ratings reflected

There was a six man tag between Savio, Razor and Kid vs. Blu Brothers/Zeb that was actually entertaining and well done too on Superstars in the fall of 1995.
