Not too long ago, there was a call for common courtesy and common decency. This should always be a two way street but it is asked of us all to choose the high road when in doubt. In order to achieve this, it is helpful to have everyone’s favorite buzzword: transparency. Unfortunately, we haven’t had much of that here as of late and it may help out many of us (users and mods) to have a clear and open discussion so that expectations can be met and adhered to.
As black and white as we would like this to be, there will always be areas of gray (or grey if you prefer). Human error exists and poor judgment can and has been made at times. It appears as though the actions of moderators or administrators might be creating a negative environment instead of encouraging a positive one. The way in which things are being handled in the “Other Brands” sub forum is a perfect example of this.
When threads are locked and/or posts deleted without explanation, it is natural to ask questions or seek clarification. This is why transparency is important. When you aren’t aware of who is making these decisions, it could be a result of retaliation, bullying, and trolling from a mod or admin. That isn’t to say this is absolutely what is happening right now, but there are things going on that ARE creating unnecessary negativity. It isn’t wrong to say that things can be and should be handled better going forward. That should be expected of all of us.
There are many ways to better achieve this so it would be nice to hear thoughtful suggestions. Please only respond with comments that are respectful, detailed, and are absent of sarcasm. Thank you.
