Has anyone ever won a title via MITB, and had that very same reign come to a close due to someone else cashing in?

The briefcase is only good for a year, so no matter what there’s never been nor will there ever be two briefcases floating around at the same time.

No it hasn’t. The only thing remotely close was in 2015 when Sheamus teased a cash-in on Rollins at Night of Champions. Kane returned and attacked both men and the match never started.

Nick's answer is probably the right one however if it did ever happen my first thought would have been Edge doing it. I swear it feels like he wont the case every other year.
It would be an interesting angle though. Seeing a case winner cashing in, winning the title and then losing it the next year the same way he won it.

He’s saying someone cashed in the MITB and wins the belt, only to lose it to whoever wins the MITB the following year.

Nope. But there are several wrestlers who have both won and lost titles via Money in the Bank cash-ins:
Edge Daniel Bryan CM Punk Randy Orton Seth Rollins Brock Lesnar Alberto Del Rio

Swagger cashed in the week he won it, otherwise they’d have not scheduled the PPV when they did.

Wrestler 1 wins MITB in 2021, holds onto the case for a few months until successfully cashing in, successfully defends the title without ever dropping it, wrestler 2 wins MITB in 2022, picks their spot and successfully cashes in against wrestler 1.

Cena I think is the only person to achieve 3 of the 4 possible MITB cash in scenarios:
❎Successfully Cash In
✅Successfully Defend Against a Cash In
✅Unsuccessfully Cash In
✅Unsuccessfully Defend Against a Cash In

Edge's WHC reign would be the closest in my mind. He won the title from Taker in 2007 on SmackDown. Then, was injured and gave up the belt. Returned from injury, won the belt, lost it to Taker, won the belt from Taker again, then was cashed in on by CM Punk. It all sort of began and ended with the Money in the Bank.

The contracts don't both have to be in circulation at the same time. Consider an alternate story with Seth Rollins' run. Won MITB in June 2014, cashed in for the title in April 2015. Sheamus wins MITB in June 2015. Cashes in on Rollins in November. The reign began and ended with a MITB cash-in.

You have someone win the case, cash it in at whatever point in the year after and win the title. They continue to hold the belt, up to the next Money In the Bank match, and the winner of that case, cashes in on the champion who won it in the last cash in. That's what he's saying. It's possible, just never happened.

As a side note, I'd love to see someone win the MITB and not get chance to cash it in for the full year, trying desperately to do it and always just missing their chance, and then it expires. It would make a brilliant storyline.
