Even Mattel struggles with the gold. Go look at Mr. T’s boots on the Retro figure. It can be done. Or micro brawlers, or funko pops etc Granted they are different types of figures but it’s just paint app we are talking about here

I think it’s more about being lied to than the actual figure itself, well that’s what has ground my fears anyway Ok cool but what is the lie? Genuinely asking. I’m lost. Mitch is saying that he deliberately switched the colours because he wanted to match the yellow of Akeem and Crush from the Hasbro series. In my opinion it either did not come out as he was expecting or he cheaper out on the paint to save costs and this is his cover up

I think everyone just wants Mitch to say the truth - which many suspect is exactly what the last poster said -- they didn't come out like he hoped, or he chose a cheaper paint.
But if he does that, he'd have to refund order.
If it really *is* that he chose a different paint while taking orders off the prototype, it's still a bad look and he should offer refunds. But I think that would cost him too much money, so he won't.

Am I missing something really obvious? I don’t know what you’re all so angry about with the Mabel figure. It's not so much the figure itself, it's that he showed the prototype that looked one way for the pre-orders (which was spot on color-wise for the attires MOM actually wore), then after the pre-orders were already in, months later he showed what the actual figure would look like (with a much brighter yellow than what was shown, which didn't match what people pre-ordered). It kind of feels like a bait-and-switch situation. Also, he also said that he made the color change himself to match the yellow for the old Hasbro Akeem and Crush figures, but that doesn't really make a lot of sense, both Akeem and Crush wore that shade of yellow on actual attires that the Hasbro figures were based off of, while Men on a Mission didn't.

Because the figure is better than he marketed it as?

It's a fair point -- but I say it's different for a made to order figure like this.
You should not assume the risk of it coming out *worse* than he told you. Or if so, maybe you just shouldn't buy in the future. If better, it's a happy accident.
I'd feel differently if you could buy it after the production run figures came out.

I can agree with that. It’s not my favorite business model: to see a drawing and then have to decide if I want to invest or not. I will admit, the change from gold to yellow doesn’t really hurt my feelings of the figures. In my opinion, I do think the “final product” looks better than most of the orange card customs I’ve seen. I can see how people would be disappointed in the change, but, personally I do think the yellow is much more toyetic. I do try to give most of these companies (Mattel included) a lot of grace when it comes to imperfections in their releases because the Hasbro figures have their own charming flaws: Macho Man’s unpainted wrist tape, painted on knee pads for Flair, questionable proportions, and etc. I try to see some of the strangeness as a continuation of the charming Hasbro flaws. But, with the inflated price point, I can understand how people wouldn’t be as willing to overlook things.

I think price point is really the issue for me. If these were the same price as Mattel, I'd be buying MOM -- exactly as is.
But I think you have to do better -- especially with honesty and transparency -- when asking that price

The thing is, a prototype is exactly that - a prototype. Not a production figure. And while it’s perfectly fair and legitimate for a colour change to upset some people as they preferred the prototype, at no point are prototypes promoted as the actual figure you’ll receive. If I recall correctly, heels and faces have been pretty clear in making that distinction at times.
Because I can’t help think that a bigger issue is if the figure’s actual sculpt ends up looking different to the prototype; which I appreciate seems a little like a deflection to a different side of the same criticism. But I feel like the Haku prototype looked a lot better than the actual figure does.
Am I a bit disappointed about this? Yes, as I’ve really wanted a Haku and for me it doesn’t fit in as well as I’d have liked with my hasbros.
Am I wanting to get a refund because it doesn’t look exactly the same as the prototype? No, as the prototype is a prototype and not a production figure.
Am I going to just try to enjoy it fir what it is? Yes, as at the end of the day it’s a toy for my enjoyment as a collector and really doesn’t warrant me getting overly frustrated about it not meeting my perfect expectations - as nothing can or will ever meet those perfect expectations in actuality anyway.

This is exactly it, prototypes are hand painted a lot of the time so will look different to the finished product. Think it’s why there has been a real annoyance with pre-orders recently, we should be able to make our decision based off the figure we will receive

Think it’s been said enough before that it doesn’t need to be in every post. If the prototype was the same colour as the finished product then their may not been as many pre-orders imo

A bit of news that could impact the figure world: It looks as though there will be delays in the Panama Canal due to drought. Remember, even if your figures aren’t being maneuvered through there, it would create a massive supply chain disruption that could throw off damn near everything. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that and factories aren’t backed up/cargo containers aren’t left sitting.
Start your Christmas shopping early, folks!

the entire point of a "canal" is you can funnel water in or out to meet the needs except when the "canal" is a massive channel of water like Panama is, pouring more water into the Panama might actually offset the rising sea levels though #silverlining

Did anyone get figs directly from rush yet. Im weeks waiting for tracking.. Nope still waiting too. He answered me a couple weeks ago on Instagram and said I'd have them soon but still nothing. Not sure what can be done at this point seeing it's well past the time of getting refunded by my credit card company. There has to be something we can do. It's ridiculous at this point. He shouldn't be in this business if he can't handle shipping in a timely manner. Maybe we can contact the better business bureau?

Rush is absurd - I can't see why this guy could survive the (justified) negative press. I think you'd be totally justified with the better business bureau at this point -- if he can't even communicate with you besides that IG post, he deserves it

if it looks like a scam, if it sounds like a scam, and if it smells like a scam...... it probably is
