What's up with the 'Hasbro shine'? Some folk are saying this is what's missing from retro releases, then Zombie makes figures with this shine and it is seen as a bad thing now? The internet summed up

They are likely using a different process with different chemicals to create it. At times it is close but it certainly is not an exact match. This looks like the coating is too thick (as in too many layers).

But I do feel, from your pictures especially, he's nailed that coveted 'Hasbro Shine'

It could be the viscosity of the chemicals or maybe the quantity of layers used. Either way, it is nice to have it but would benefit from further experimentation. These a total nitpicks as to what makes these figures imperfect or not identical to the original Hasbro line. Though I won’t take away any points for not having an action feature lol.

Supposedly shipping jan. I read that as shipping to customers not shipping from factory. If so that’s the sort of turn around you’d expect, 3 months max

What's up with the 'Hasbro shine'? Some folk are saying this is what's missing from retro releases, then Zombie makes figures with this shine and it is seen as a bad thing now? The shine is definitely something unique on the hasbro figures. I still have mine as a kid which have gone through each of my 3 kids hands too at different points and still all in one piece. They’re bricks of toys! Literally only the punch ones (el matador etc) have broken actions. There’s so much about those figures past nostalgia factor which makes em great. There’s intangibles that no company - probably even hasbro themselves can’t replicate. Motu for instance was an iconic form factor but was also easily replicated. Ditto the Joe or Kenner Star Wars.. Hasbros just hit something special.

What's up with the 'Hasbro shine'? Some folk are saying this is what's missing from retro releases, then Zombie makes figures with this shine and it is seen as a bad thing now? I only have 2 ZST figs: Dino and Double J. The skin tone is glossy on both but the gear/attire is not. The gear has a very flat paint look and feel and the boots feel like they were painted with whiteout. The Hasbros have shine with the skin tone, gear and all. I feel ZST figs are only partially capturing the "Hasbro shine".
