Damn another young one in a long list of em. I'll remember em best for his run with Bagwell in WCW and that brief WWF run with Bret in 97. RIP Mr. Wilkes LA Times

Quite sad, but he did have his demons.
I first saw him as The Trooper in the AWA. I didn't think much of him, just a babyface handing out plastic sheriff badges to kids at ringside.
He got quite as lucky push in the WWF, but failed to get anywhere after his brief feud with Bret Hart.
If I remember right, the Honky Tonk Man owns the rights to the Patriot gimmick.

Ah yes the Trooper. Forgot about that gimmick

Enjoyed his work. His match with Bret in Louisville for the title was good. RIP.
Crazy that he died right before 4th of July weekend.

So sad. Not only was he a good wrestler, but seemed like a gentleman. I liked the mini feud with Bret Hart. 59 is way too young to go.
RIP Del Wilkes The Patriot

He did a virtual signing last year and he said HTM absolutely does not own the name.

I remember being a fan of his WWF run and being bummed it didn't pan out, but his personality was a bit dry, he just did have 'it.' I loved the designs of his mask he wore during that run. The earliest I remember of his career was the WCW run with Bagwell, but got to appreciate more of his career, as I got older and learned to love the history of wrestling beyond the 'big two.' I still remember laughing a bit, when Kurt Angle debuted and the music played thinking, 'what they hell, that's the Patriot's music.'
