Dynamite 7/7/21: Road Rager

If End doesn’t menacingly pace behind the first few rows of seats to stalk his opponents during their other matches to intimidate them and the announcers don’t refer to him as “He Who Walks Behind the Rows” this will all have been for nothing

Competition is bad. VKM is gawd.

H-HA! Nice try with the passive-aggressive quip but Vince made $847 million dollars last year by signing exclusive TV and licensing deals that benefit him exclusively and do nothing to improve the actual quality of his television programs.

Let’s see Cody and his gang of vanilla midgets pocket $847mil without actually improving any facet of their weekly shows and THEN we can talk about who puts out the better wrestling!

Andrade's first match followed by the Tommy End debut (by kicking Cody in the face, no less) is the greatest back-to-back moment in AEW history.

We got Andrade and Black,if Buddy shows up too I'm gonna lose my mind.

All good, only tend to drop in sporadically here and there so I completely understand. Lol

That was actually written as a bit of a parody because there are a couple users on here who non-ironically cite Vince personally pocketing millions off these deals as some type of bizarre superiority thing for the WWE’s product over other wrestling companies.

It’s always been the oddest thing to me personally.

Yeah my bad lol. Usually when I read lengthy paragraphs, I tend to instantly think of true try-hards twisting themselves in knots to justify their stances. Parodies I am familiar with are shorter and to the point.

TLDR: Hooray for AEW!

So glad to have Dynamite back on Wednesday. It makes what was historically One of the worst nights of the week destination television. Damn good show. I forgot what it was like to set up the following week of matches on the program. It makes everything feel more important.

Also, Black was my top want from WWE. That was a jump out of the seat moment. I fully expect him to beat Cody at least once, but I too hope Codywood Rogan doesn’t win the feud. After being jerked around for the last year Black should go undefeated for awhile, and hopefully sweep Cody. Good deal with the lights as well. They actually got me. When it happened in the first match I was sure it was a new debut, but then it passed with only mentions of weather, so the second time I was still hoping for a debut, but fearing an In Your House: Beware of Dog incident. To say the payoff was pay dirt is an understatement.

Andrade is looking like he’s going to make a far bigger impact than he did in WWE. Another great match!

The Darby/Page thing was a little weird. It was a good moment for Darby since he’s not the best promo, but I don’t think they got everything across as well as they’d hoped. If they’re in a blood feud, why is geriatric JR the only thing preventing them from tearing each other apart right then and there? The backstory wasn’t as rich as I was hoping either considering that I know nothing of these guys before AEW.

That main event was a banger. I knew the Bucks would retain, but damn if they didn’t get me a few times there as well.

MJF is the best promo in I don’t even know how long; surely since the latter days of Shawn Michaels if not all the way back to the Rock’s heyday.

Ricky Starks is really coming into his own. I’m liking the Team Taz drama, but fear it will end with only Hook and Hobbs remaining. All good things come to an end.

The Orange/Statlander vs Blade/Bunny was a bit of a lull, but that’s mostly because Allie is pretty rough and the women’s action was slow. People were on fire for OC. Speaking of fire..

Hangman picked right up where he left off. I was afraid the pandemic would derail his rise since a lot of the build related to his one to one fan interaction with the beer, but he’s easily the top face if you don’t count Cody, which I kind of don’t. QT should’ve won, but that felt like a blowoff. Hopefully not.

As much as I don’t really like Smark crowds, it was great to have people again, the energy was out of this world. This isn’t a knock specifically at WWE, but I HATE the Thunderdome and every other digital video fan setup in any other sport. AEW did it right with the wrestlers adding a live energy, but nothing replaces screaming fans. What a night. I’ll always love WWE for what they mean to my childhood (basically the same reason I’ll always love Hogan), but Dynamite is easily my favorite wrestling show of the past fifteen (actually 19) years. I understand some of Corny’s frustrations, but know that those part of the show are not meant for me. The presentation is what really sets AEW apart.
