How do you expect this line to survive on nothing but re-releases ?

All this line needs is another weasel suit heenan to officially kill this line for good.

Target does not enjoy ordering a bunch of product only to see it rot and then have to mark it down a few months later.

I don't. History has shown that the sub-lines of the Mattel WWE line don't last more than a few series. I'm honestly surprised that the Legends reboot has lasted as long as it has.

I didn't check the one near work but that's what I'd expect to find, too. My Walmart never marks anything down, either. Not long ago they had Marvel Legends on the shelf that were three years old.

To be fair though, both Tito and Heenan suffered because of a figure in the same series being pulled (Hogan and Sting, respectively) so there were extras of them in the cases instead.

It can also be a little of all of the above.  Their current contract with WWE requires them to work from people signed under the Legends program, as far as we know.  But anybody who doesn't think that clause absolutely be re-negotiated in the next contract if Mattel cared to is absolutely kidding themselves.

The reality is that it's in Mattel's financial interest to leave things as is with legends.  They have no reason to change things things, as it's financially beneficial for both Mattel and WWE.  And that's what matters most.
