I was at a Target this morning and they had around 8 Legends Cena’s on clearance but the lone Volkoff was still full priced.

Overall poor management of the brand between all parties leads to this, not surprised. Hopefully going forward they can figure out a better balance so this doesn’t happen again or as often.

I haven't seen an Ultimate at retail since the last time I saw The Fiend, which must've been in January or February. As for the Legends, They're probably losing on guys like Vader and Volkoff if they are still around, but Heenan has been a problem for about a year now, and Cena is well on his way to making it to Pegwarmer of 2021 status along with WM Chyna.

Bottom line is a figure line can not survive with 1 freaking peg dedicated to it. Mattel does not have the brass ones to demand more shelf space. So this is the result.

They've also been clearing out Marvel Legends over the past week or so. It happens, and shouldn't be cause for panic. The next Legends wave was supposed to hit stores in late July.
At least they're having the sense to clear out the stack of Heenans all my stores have instead of letting him sit for two years like Tito.

Every overstocked store pictured has more than a pegs worth. Its poor distribution, character selection, bad stocking habits(cycle counts, wrong items on pegs, etc) at store levels, that leads to these markdowns. Again its not on persons fault, its the whole team! The next few waves are very well balanced for character choices to appease all kinds of collectors. im not sure how to improve distribution so that all stores get equal amount of product to sell through as opposed to some getting to much and some getting none at all.

I just don't understand how there are THIS many Legends Cena's floating around. Were they just overproduced? For every 1-2 Vader's I saw, there were like 7 or 8 Cena's. It seems more like a miscalculation by Mattel than it is a true shelf warmer.
Even HOF Tito wasn't four pegs deep.

I don't like them putting just 2 figures per case. if one of those figures bombs then it just creates chaos

Cena and Vader have unique product numbers just for them since they were sent out as the only figure in cases right? That would be why other legends don’t have a clearance price.

This is what happens when people buy 5-6 figs at a time to try and flip for profit. Eventually stock passes demand.
Nothing about this surprises me.

Honestly, I know everyone hates scalpers, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to stick up on these things. In a few years they could be going for high numbers. Especially after the Legends line ends again.

They’re simply preparing for the next planogram reset by cleaning up some product. It’s totally normal and you’ll see it across multiple brands and lines.
Legends and Ultimates are VERY healthy. Just take this as a sign that fresh figures will be hitting imminently.

I respect what Steve says, but as somoene pointed out, UE NEVER sit on shelves. Really does seem Legends is overproduced for retail unless amazing figs like Vader, Jake, Warrior, Razor...
