I thought you didn't want to see him wrestle again at all? I suppose it would have relevance then though in a way, my bad. Kinda like Warrior trying to comeback in '96. Anyone who was a Warrior fan in the early 90's was mortified at that disaster. Not that Punk is Warrior, Punk can actually wrestle. But if it's not the Punk you remember I get why reading how I wrote, but you totally misunderstood me. Given Punk's whole anti-establishment type gimmick, and knowing he's only going back to WWE for a pile of money means he couldn't really do that gimmick authentically, which is what made him special. I.e. you don't want to see punk wrestle, he wouldn't be going back to the place where you want to see him wrestle = no relevance. After remembering the Warrior's train wreck of a comeback, I've thought better that it would have relevance. Those 2 people he was talking about sound like dorks, am I right? Yeah no kidding, good thing he didn't mean us 😬 |

I dunno, it just seems odd to me that there's a report about AEW negotiating with someone when that's not really how they operate. Has AEW's interest in anyone been reported before they just showed up on Dynamite or a PPV? And when it finally does leak, it's just so coincidentally for someone as big as Punk?

(The awesome thing is if I'm right I get to feel smart, and if I'm wrong CM Punk is showing up so I'm winning either way.)

If he shows up at All Out, I'll lose my voice. The idea of Punk & Bryan showing up in September is incredible. I'd be really interested to see what the viewer bump would be. I may actually die if those two work for AEW |

It is Dave “may or may not happen” Meltzer after all Haha yeah, it was Dave "plans change" Meltzer who said the original thing, but now SRS is the one reporting on the Punk specific stuff. He's usually decently accurate. I didn't get it spoiled, but he had posted about Aleister Black behind his paywall right before his debut I believe. I don't subscribe to Fightful Select so I'm going off someone else saying that post existed. |

After Bret finally returned to the WWE, I’ve learned to never say never in this industry.I won’t believe it until I see it, but I won’t completely write out a Punk return to the ring.
Honestly though I’m hoping for D-Bry more than Punk but either would be huge gets for AEW.

Heard through the grapevine today, that Bryan Danielson FKA Daniel Bryan, has signed a 2 year Contract with AEW and will debut in Sept

I'll pop so goddamn hard for Bryan Danielson if he shows up, but to be clear, I'll still have been more excited for both Andrade and Black. Black's debut was maybe the biggest pop I've ever had in wrestling. I've heard Impact is making big plays for Buddy Murphy, but agreed there too. Thankfully I also follow impact really closely so either scenario I'd get to see him wrestle lots. |

I don't tend to comment in here often as being in the UK I'm always behind on AEW but this news/speculation has me pumped!
CM Punk - huge fan and think he's done such a good job of staying relevant that there will be a pool of former wrestling fans and UFC fans that could spike a rating for his showing up. A good few AEW dream matches there and could really elevate some of the top stars and with the way the show is booked with most storylines feeling important this would be a brilliant signing!
Bryan - I was never really a Bryan guy, something about his character just didn't resonate with me. That said, I think there are dream matches and he's a smart guy so if he can tweak his character and work how he wants then we could see something special. And if not then I know I'm in the 1% on this and we get great in ring work and a huge name coming over.
For me, both work really well in AEW and far more interest from me in seeing them there than WWE
