I have heard from various places; that his heel turn is to segway Reigns into being a beloved babyface. To me that always sounded weird. I don't doubt Reigns will be face again ONE day; I would bet on it. This could just be rumor bs; but I don't put it past WWE with it's lack of long term booking. Outside of Reigns/Roman I don't WWE has any clue of what they want to headline Mania.
But; I think Reigns has a lot more mileage as a heel for atleast the rest of now to 2023. What do you see as the endgame of this run and if a face turn is on the horizon?

I could see them doing an angle where Heyman screws Roman and Brock wins the title but I don’t think he would be great as a face.

I think Drew vs Roman will be the Universal Championship match at Mania with Drew beating Roman. Think it’ll be a good while before Roman turns baby again.

When they eventually do Reigns/Lesnar I'd like to see the dynamic changed. Lesnar as the face and Reigns as the heel with Heyman.
They'll eventually turn Reigns face, but there's far too much milage for him in the heel run, so many great matches and storyline for it to be any time soon. 2023 seems like a good estimation, but that should be the absolute minimum imo.

I accept credit for this thread lol
I'll rehash what I've said since day 1-ish. I refuse to recognize it as a "heel turn", if there is no intention of having the talent put someone else over. This was meant to give him a badass edge they've been so desperate for years to cast him in. Now that live crowds are back and are backing him more than ever, Vince is gonna get that itchy trigger finger. The dirty casuals have bought in, most of the smarks have bought in. Now any remaining detractors can be cancelled out as a statistical error and disregarded. And you all have done it to yourselves.

If I were to guess, I’d say they’re going to go a 50/50 booking direction with Reigns and Rock, just like they did with Rock and Cena. From there, hard to say, but I guess after enough years of sometimes going over and sometimes not (as opposed to right now where he’s dominating in every single direction), he’ll start to put over guys from the next generation on a regular basis, passing the torch in the traditional style of the professional wrestling business.
Guess nothing about this post is really shocking, but the main idea is I don’t really see Reigns being any sort of anomaly in the long run. As far as turning face again, I could definitely see him doing that at some point in 2024 or so, assuming the matches with The Rock are in 2023 and 2024 (haven’t read any reports saying the plans are to do it 50/50, but I know WWE really likes to book in that style).

I want Cena to pin him clean in the middle for a short reign. They can swap it back the next month then Roman can build to Rock & Brock matches

They need Roman to be a Rock/Austin kind of babyface when he eventually turns back - a badass who doesn't pander but stands up for the right things.
If they just basically hit the reset button and turn him back into regular Roman Reigns the whole thing will have been for nothing.

To become a babyface that their crowds don't boo.

WWE has no endgame. That's not how they operate anymore. Maybe Vince is like "ultimately I want him to be the top babyface".....but that was Vince's plan for over 5 years and it didn't work no matter what they did. They put so many heels in front of Roman Reigns and the fans responded with indifference OR they CHEERED THE HEELS! The fans turned Strowman face when he went against Roman! The fans cheered LESNAR when he went against Roman! I'm pretty sure the fans even cheered for JINDER MAHAL!
Meanwhile, at the beginning of this failed experiment back in 2015 when they tried to get Roman cheered by associating him with The Rock...it backfired and the fans BOOED THE ROCK!
So, I'm sorry, "if you can believe it, you can achieve it" does NOT apply to Roman Reigns EVER being accepted as the top baby face of the WWE. This dude got cancer and it only bought him like 6 months of equity and then they booed him against Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 35. It's never going to happen. Anybody who turns on Roman is going to be cheered.
What WWE will do is what WWE has ALWAYS DONE, especially with Roman. Once day WWE will just flip the switch and they'll just TELL US that Roman Reigns is a hero and BELOVED by the WWE Universe and they'll just ignore all the booes and move forward with the narritive that they want to portray.
WWE acts like they are happy the fans are back because the fans "dictate what we do" and "the fans decide who is a good guy and bad guy".....that's such complete BS. Anybody who has watched WWE for any length of time knows that WWE has their blinders on 99.9999999999% of the time and the fans can cheer or boo until their blue in the face....WWE decides who is a face and who is a heel.
CLIFF NOTES VERSION if you don't want to read my above essay.....Roman Reigns isn't getting cheered regardless of who he's against.

Here's how you make him babyface:
Bring in a masked guy called Luke Chemia.
Profit profit profit.

It doesn't matter who the top baby face WWE Champion or Universal Champion is, for the fans will start to turn on them too months into their title reign like they did Cena, Reigns, Rollins, and McIntyre.
I think the only three guys that WWE fans never got tired of being a champion were CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles.

I think they'll catapult Big E and have him win the title. Or D-Bry comes back and does it.

I could see them doing an angle where Heyman screws Roman and Brock wins the title but I don’t think he would be great as a face. If they do Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns one more time, then it absolutely has to be with a babyface Brock this time, on his own, with no Heyman, going after Heel Reigns. That's a programme I'd be invested in, and it would put Reigns over huge. As far as I can see it, there's just no way he'll ever work as a top natural face, no matter how good he is as a heel. There's still way too much scope to run with him as a heel yet, especially now they've hit go on it and committed to it. There's still the mega matches with the likes of John Cena, Brock Lesnar and The Rock to get out the way with first, so I'd say ride it out until the very least 2023 after that, and only then the fans might just accept him as a face by that point simply down to his sheer CV of accolades he'd have by that point.
