who's working who? if the wwe creative can't create scenarios that reinforce the character they're building and instead exploits them, how that can be blamed on the fans or wrestler themselves is beyond me.
creative has sucked for years. they'll do a few things interesting, but overall it's the exact same song they're playing each week. start there, and then start blaming others once they actually have their craptogether.

Hmmm, well, during Punk’s time as a face world champ in 2011 and 2012, I’d say he was over with the Internet and non-Internet fans. So there’s probably something in that formula; Prior to Punk’s heel turn in summer 2012 (and even after that), his entire reign as champion had people whining that he was BERRIED because Cena was still the top guy. Same way people cried about Roman Reigns being the top guy for about five years even though he only held the title for about six months total across that timespan. Complaining about the top guy isn’t dependent on them having the belt, it’s dependent on perceiving them as the biggest star on the show. People started to lose interest in Bryan when he won the title (same with Becky and Kofi). That’s the problem with the big Vince vs Children of Meltzer storylines - the moment the wrestler wins the belt and the fireworks go off, the hate-watchers either consciously or subconsciously realise that Vince booked them to win the belt. The wrestler becomes less rebellious and “cool” and from there, there are only three roads: 1) Constantly look for evidence of BERRIAL so you can remain a fan of them (Asuka, Banks, Punk) - this one basically requires the person to have a lot of “stans” on social media, and crucially, for there to be bigger and better stars on the roster at the same time. 2) Lose interest in them until they lose the title and then start complaining that they’re BERRIED again (Kofi, Bryan, Fiend) - this one is easier with shorter reigns and then dropping down the card, as if they stay on top too long, they’ll fall into the bottom category. 3) Gradually increase hatred of them to the point where whether they’re champion or not, they are SHOVED DOWN OUR THROATS and they are now the reason to hate the show that we already hated for years before they ever won the belt (Cena, Rollins, Reigns, McIntyre) - this one is pretty inevitable when someone wins their first big babyface world title, looks like a star, and has the company behind them. That’s what made it so obvious that Drew was going to get the same treatment from “fans” once he beat Lesnar.

I agree that the fans and creative have sucked for years, I think the wrestlers deserve some blame too. They're just not entertaining
