I have always been a big history buff, its probably been one of my stronger points of my education. I also enjoy studying the history of dubious, infamous individuals, and when I heard about this line from McFarlane, I was very curious. Being a big fan of McFarlane toys for a while, I never really purchased any figures of theirs other than Sports of movie/music related figures, until now... and I am not the least bit disappointed. The main thing I like about these figures is that they are sick, twisted, bloody, and just downright cool to look at. I have only owned them for 3 days, and they have made for an interesting conversation piece.
I will review the figures in order of my favorite to least favorite...
1. Billy The Kid
This figure is my favorite of the set. Although the term Billy "The Kid" should be used loosely, because the character portrayed seems to be a bit older than Billy the kid was stated to be... however, I love the look of the figure... he just looks like a badass, fully armed cowboy... and he is fully armed. With the addition of the collectors club exclusive accessory pack, this figure has close to a dozen weapons strapped to his legs, arms, back, etc... The pose is awesome... and I love the base, being a wooden casket... complete with body inside.
2. Elizabeth Bathory
One of the cooler figures of the set... and certainly the most provacative... Elizabeth Bathory is self explainatory... a naked woman... bathing in blood... The accessories are cool... the candles come with the figure, but the bloody base comes in the accessory pack, which I think is a must have... because it makes the figure complete.
3. Rasputin
I was debating wheter to put Rasputin or Jack the Ripper at #3... I think Rasputin wins... I love the base, and the accessories... he comes with many test tubes, vials, and even some rats that go on the floor.
4. Jack The Ripper
I like this figure, but I think it could have been better... The base is excellent... I am not digging the head, or the "peg leg" on him.... however, the rest is very cool... He comes with an alternate head in the accessory pack, as well as the nifty lamp post...
5. Vlad The Impaler
Him and Atilla the Hun are the two weakest in the set, in my opinion... but are still pretty decent. The impaled torso comes in the accessory pack, and he also sports a big sword that he can also hold...
6. Atilla The Hun
I love the base to this figure... a pile of bloody heads... but outside of that, not much else going on.... decent looking figure, probably my least favorite of the set of 6.
That is the set together... I am really very pleased... I spent something like 58$ delivered to get the set... plus like 14 for the accessory pack...
I will probably start paying more attention to other various figures McFarlane has to offer.
