I backed mine this eve, only because i didnt want to forget tomorrow lol. My initial intention was to wait until the last day but the macho man threw those plans off. Now i leave this in The hands of the last 3000 plus to get to doink! I dont need extra ring skirts

Considering how much they want to make it to Doink, no way are they going to sell it to backers for anything less than $50. I don’t think mattel would be scummy enough to charge the people who loyally backed this almost double what the figure would cost at retail. You gotta consider the cost of actually making the figure though. If they offered Doink to just backers, that means less than 7,000 units would be produced, which means the factory would jack up their prices to Mattel to even take the job. Mattel wouldn’t eat that cost. Factories would rather take jobs for massive quantities of things. It’s economies of scale. The tooling alone on a figure in that limited of a quantity may be nearing $10k. That’s why there’s so much reuse of parts. That’s also why this set is priced so high, and why I definitely see it being rereleased with new deco in the future, but probably as a store exclusive. That mold has to earn for them to invest in it. |

I would love an Attitude ring. Maybe a combo attitude and modern ring. All they’d have to do is make modern-style ring post covers to slide over the ring posts, ring skirts to swap out, an LED screen (not an actual LED screen, but a piece of plastic with a sticker on it) that snaps into the post covers, and some swappable turnbuckles. That way you can swap back and forth between Attitude Era and modern with minimal new tooling. But that’s a pipe dream. |

I emailed Mattel asking to cancel my order, so that I could order two without double paying for shipping/duties. Knowing my luck, they'll cancel it after the 13th and I'll be screwed...

I was against this. An era I wasn't interested in, Ultimates I didn't care for, a ring that everyone knows is too big, and an entrance I wasn't begging for. Then they threw in Macho Man and the asking price almost equaled the perceived value. shipping is phenomenal but I know Canadians are bound to get hit with $70+ duties, so it's looking like 4 bills easy (after conversion rate). I also feel Mattel mis-managed the the entire marketing for this project and it feels terrible to support bad planning.
Even with ALL that, I think I was #3178 to back this this evening...

Just backed my second one. This way I can keep a set with the rest of my MOC ultimates. May sell the second ring and entrance in the future if it becomes a nuisance.

Man, I think this is gonna come to a crawl if we don’t hit 5k before Macho Man ends. Yeh I see this dying once Macho is off the table as well. Hopefully it gets there tomorrow and it’s made. As much as I’d love the doink too, I don’t see it getting there I would hope if it does come to a crawl they’ll add macho man back or something. But I think people who did do the early bird order would feel cheated if they added it back after the expired date |

Even though Doink may still be a pipedream, I just backed two of these to help the cause. Hopefully, we get there.

Diesel, Macho, and Doink will never be made if not backed according to Steve. Most of is assumed they would eventually be released, not the case now.
