Macho and edge been sitting there too. Fiend isnt expensive and Hogan can be had for retail from time to time. I think its dying down. Give hogan some time. And I think they were lame choices for the UE line, nobody cares about old edge, should’ve been a rated r edge or a early RA edge. And the macho should’ve been a nwo version. I think the target Batista and Kane will rejuvenate the line. Absolutely. I'm still hoping for a RA or Rated R Edge as an Amazon fan takeover figure...

The pandemic

I’d say it was the perfect storm of the pandemic, series not hitting stores (UE4 not hitting causing orders for UE5 to go crazy and sell out for a time on RSC with initial worry of no more stock), UE6 Rock being a hit, first time Hollywood Hogan, etc… Now because of all those things I feel like its simply become another line where scalpers look at it and potential for reselling for secondary market value.

My first was Bret, then I was able to find a HHH that was still out there. I really regret passing over Warrior many times.

None but Nakamura sat in my area. They always were moving around here.

For me, it was when they started making some noticeable improvements. The torsos started looking better and the butterfly shoulders were a nice addition.

Is the hype "dying" or does Mattel simply produce more because of demand?

Shinsuke was the worst out the first 3 waves and can still be obtained pretty cheaply. Balor and Triple H were already at retail in the beginning of covid. Wave 4 was scarce, but Ringside had Brock for a few months. Wave 5 was online only never hit retail. Cena still on Ringside. 6 was split online Rock brought a renewed interest in the line. 7 is being produced heavily Ringside has th 4th back order for Hogan coming in October. 8,9 and 10 are good sets. Give them a while then everyone will go crazy on them. Covid got everyone going stir crazy and buying stuff like Triple H and Balor sat in Target gathering dust for about 4 months and now there getting high in price. got Warrior in Target for 20.00 when they had some sale on figures and had planned on passing on him.

I think it was the HBK and Brock not going into retail. The prices for those shot up huge on the secondary market quickly. Then out of no where -- Becky, Brock, HBK, Bret, Triple H, Warrior, and the first Rock figure were all in the $110-$200 range.
One thing that I think happened, too, was something I was guilty of. I saw them not moving well and waited for them to get cheaper and cheaper online and then all of the sudden, they were gone. I saw Ronda, Warrior, Nakamura, Bret, and Finn all sitting on shelves and dropping a few dollars every day on Amazon. I expected the same would happen for the others. I just played the waiting game for too long and now I am regretting it.
It seems like since they added the butterfly joints, this is a heavy adult collector item. I'd say having a line that is almost exclusively adults hunting these figures also plays a role.
Coincidentally, I've been hunting online to complete a UE collection over the past few weeks. I was able to get a few for a decent price but no way I'm touching a $150+ price tag of some of these single figures. I'll just always preorder them now.

When they decided to go full Legend mode with it, rather than current undercard talent.

For me personally, it was Bret.
In general, I think it was probably Series 6 Rock that everyone loved.

I really think it has to do with talent choices. Not a whole lot of people wanted Ronda or Shinsuke and even figures that were of popular names like Triple H and Demon Finn weren't the best representations of those characters (compared to certain Elites). But once Series 4 hit and you got into figures that were big names, great looks, and they weren't readily available, interest int the line skyrocketed. Add to that figures like The Rock which, if you slap on a pair of track pants, is hands down the best Attitude Era Rock we are ever going to get, and the line is flying high. And no, I don't think it has died down. The Macho and Edge might not be the most iconic figures of them but I really think that the SCSA and Flair figures are going to shoot through the roof once they sell out. Hollywood Hogan and Fiend I can see happening too, especially with Bray's release. And the new Jeff and Hogan amazon figures are already there. The craze hasn't died down at all. You damn right!

Everyone wanted RR edge, the problem is the lack of accessories, tooling parts that just made collectors care for him anymore, really missed opportunity. The fiend will be expensive now since bray is not in WWE anymore.

I know it was the Bret Hart that won me over. Love that figure.

I feel like things picked up with Wave 4. The Amazon Rock really added onto that though.

Sort of on topic, but I’ve noticed Austin moving a lot in stores. With Flair now gone from WWE, do we think people start buying that one like crazy? It’s an incredible figure as it is (I know the robe choice was odd)

I know there was no belt to accurately go with this figure, but the rated r belt could have been added. That whole wave was cheap on the accessories as macho didn't have a belt either.

So yeah the Ultimate didn’t feel as special.

The problem with the Edge was it didn’t feel like it met the UE price point. Especially with the one head with the finishing moves hair.
