And nothing of value was lost. His appearances the past 10 or so years have just been embarrassing.

I don’t know what happened with Ric, but if Nick Khan doesn’t see $value$ in these legends, our figure collections are going to suffer.

Would love to see a Horsemen reunion in AEW, if just for one night.

Ric asked for his release, by the way. He wasn't happy with recent booking decisions, and called Vince personally to ask for his release.

Ric Flair at home last Wednesday flipping through the TV channels and comes across TNT.
"Why are they airing old WCW Nitro shows on TNT still?" - Ric
Ric then notices Tully and Arn on the TV.
"Why are they airing old NWA World Wide Wrestling on TNT?" - Ric
Rick then notices it doesn't say NWA or WCW, but AEW on the screen.
"Why are they airing old AWA wrestling promoted by Verne Gagne on TNT?" - Ric
Ric get told by his wife that it's All Elite Wrestling, and it's Tony Khan's promotion and that Tony pays ridiculous amounts of money to have old wrestlers he grew up idolizing on TV in his wrestling promotion so he can say he is friends with them.
"Vince, it's Ric Flair... I'm out. I need to leave the WWE because uh.... just give me the release, Vince." - Ric
*phone rings*
"Hello, Tony Khan? I thought I would be hearing from you." - Ric

Contract expired, not renewed. Not accurate. It is being reported that he requested his release. His contract did not expire.

Ric Flair reportedly contacted WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon to ask for his release.
As noted earlier, Wrestling Inc and Fightful reported that the WWE Hall of Famer is no longer with the company after requesting his release, and being granted the departure, effective today.
In an update, Fightful Select adds that Flair reportedly grew frustrated with certain booking decisions on WWE TV, and contacted McMahon directly to voice his issues. Flair also asked Vince for his release.
Flair was involved in a relationship storyline with Lacey Evans on RAW earlier this year, but that was nixed when Evans revealed her legitimate pregnancy. Flair has been away since then, but word is that the booking issues he didn’t like were fairly recent.
The Nature Boy was outspoken about his disdain of the Evans storyline. He spoke with Ariel Helwani back in May and admitted he was uncomfortable with the storyline, but said ultimately he did what he was told because Vince was sold that it would get Evans over in the program with Charlotte Flair.
“In this instance, I didn’t [feel comfortable],” Flair admitted. “The one thing I’ve learned is you’re not going to win a war when someone’s got their mind made up. She most definitely didn’t like it, but the one thing that I can say about me is I always said yes. I didn’t want to be that guy that was always going ‘Oh, that isn’t perfect for me.’

This is becoming a joke already, as this has turned into the 'BAH GAWD, WHAT IS DICK BLAIR DOING IN THE IMPACT ZONE? !!!!! of the '20s. However, he really wasn't of much value to WWE at this point. It sucks, but even the Hogan and Flair generation is getting buried in the past. WWE caters to a younger crowd. Now the parents of the kids are going to be more psyched to see guys like Austin, HBK, and other Attitude Era guys than guys like Flair. AEW is much better at taking care of Legends than WWE, however I'm not really sure what Flair could bring to the table on a consistent basis aside from merch. Unless they make him an on-screen authority figure who gets paid by appearance I don't think bringing Flair in for a long-term talent deal would be in AEW's best interests, but I feel like they'll do it anyway. That said, I'd be happy to see Flair on AEW being treated like a champion and not a buffoon. I feel like Flair is one of those guys who can have multiple merchandise deals, but if I'm wrong and WWE no longer has access to him I'm glad the Ultimate came out before he left, as that is in my opinion the best Ultimate that was ever released and probably in line for one of the best wrestling figures of all time.

I'd like to see him pop in on NWA Powerrr & ask Nick Aldis if he can hold the old NWA title one more time. Not wrestle & win it, just hold it for nostalgia.

To be honest, pairing Ric with Hangman Page is a lot more natural and respectful than an incest-ish fling with Lacey.

AEW is created Vince now feels like he’s lost his power because guys can now seek out the other billionaire when unhappy Vince thinks, if I release enough top talent into the marketplace, eventually AEW will no longer have space for anymore Thus filling the cup with enough water to no longer be able to sustain any new water…taking it off the market Vince then possesses the power again.
That’s my best tin foil hat conspiracy. Having said that, I don’t think Flair is a major loss other than figs which we have enough.

It’s that, or the idea that they can cut all this money and be ridiculously profitable because in the grand scheme of things AEW hasn’t really affected their bottom line at all. AEW is doing their thing, but monetarily it hasn’t affected them at all.

Flair on a TNT/TBS show is just meant to be. Written in the stars, it's a must.
