Was that a thing? I never had a problem getting my Ringside Series JR to sit down. omg I just looked at images and saw the blended knees, I could have sworn mine had straight legs with no joints at the knee A lot of the figures in that set did. You're probably remembering the first Vince McMahon figure, which was posed similarly (nearly identically, actually) but had single mold legs and only included articulation at the shoulders and neck. The referee, Jim cornette, and Commissioner Slaughter all had similar articulation limits. Honky Tonk Man had articulation on his upper legs, but it was basically useless to make him sit. I think JR was designed with the Grapple Gear set in mind, because that double leg articulation was really something for the time.

I’m definitely thinking about the Vince I had that and I could never find the king figure at the time so I had him and JR at the table and he just stood. Ugh awesome times in my head lol. I remember looking for that ref so long and never finding it

The first year I really got back into figures, I lucked out and my parents dumped basically all of series 4 on me for Christmas, so I never had to chase them down. I actually had two Lawlers, because I had that one, and then the one that came in the 2 Tuff pack with Brian Christopher. I can't remember if my referee came from Ringside Series 1 or Series 2 (he was re-released).

I had stopped after Jakks lost the license and then stumbled on the L9 undertaker on a target trip and it just brought back memories so here I am trying to recreate the BCAs I had with Mattel. It’s been fun.

It’s been fun. The Jakks BCA line made up the bulk of my "childhood" (adolescent, really) collecting. I had the Hasbros from around kindergarten through 1st or 2nd grade, then I kinda drifted into other interests (read: Power Rangers). I got back into wrestling in a big way between 6th and 7th grade, and started going deep into the figures right between Superstars Series 2 and Series 3 (I still remember walking into a KB Toy Works in town and grabbing gems like the glow-in-the-dark Undertaker and the Ultimate Warrior). The last wrestling figure I bought for nearly 13 years was the Rulers of the Ring Justin Credible before my wife sent me into complete relapse a few years ago with the DM Savage and Undertaker for Christmas. Been downhill ever since.

Been downhill ever since. Me, too. That’s why I got so nuts into Mattel’s offerings. They made all sorts of cool stuff that the BCA never had, I could never find, or was impossible to find. I’m big into rings, entrances, and playsets and Jakks’ BCA rings were inadequate to me as a child and the Titan Tron and playsets didn’t exist until the grotesque Titan Tron Live figures that helped me move away from wrestling figures. That Monster ring was terrible and the Attitude ring made it difficult to have tag matches because the ropes came right up to the edge of the ring.

I remember looking for that ref so long and never finding it I’m with you on that ref. Him and Vince were just impossible to find. Thank God Kevin Nash’s WCW figure came with a ref. I honestly think the difficulty of finding Vince and the ref are why I’m so obsessed with suited figures and referees now. I have nearly every suited figure they ever made including a lot of duplicates to make new suited figures and I've made 4 referees and I have Danny Davis. I still wish Mattel would make a modern ref with a molded shirt. I don’t get why they don’t make one with a generic head.

Deadman -- I'd love to hear this. Were you still following the boards and not collecting? Or did you see L9 Undertaker, gt back into collecting, sign onto this board, etc?

I’d been on the boards several years ago, stopped collecting and much like brock came back to check in when I was interested to see what was going on. Then I was shopping and saw that and was like woah… aside from the phenom taker ttl figure that they re released in classics 3 this is the best taker I’ve seen in years… and shortly after I connected with another member on IG and now here I am back into it. A fun and wild ride it’s been lol
