I always ask for the giant Mattel/jazzwares displays after they’re done with them and get the same answer every time (“we have to throw them away, not allowed to give them away”)
There’s one at Walmart right now with a couple figs left in it, I’m thinking of just buying the remaining figs and taking the stand with me. Anyone else has experience with this?

Maybe it's different in the U.S., but I work for a toy chain here in the U.K. and we give them away if people want them. The only time we don't is if we know more stock is coming through.

So me taking one I wouldn’t get any trouble right? Tired of asking and them giving me a line of bs when they’re just gonna pitch them

I’d say it’s important to ask. My company often has these types of displays for our products. They can be really expensive, and sometimes tied to contracts. It’s possible that the store really can’t give them away or sell them for contractual reasons. However, it’s also possible that the displays are for limited use and the stores can just give them away or sell them. It’s worth asking. You don’t want to get accused of theft for something dumb if you just happen to come across the wrong person

I was gonna say I’ve had them and also Topps ones from here in the uk from different retailers but I always ask, they usually take my number and call me when they’re done with it In this time of climate crisis they’d really rather throw them - most are laminated so id guess can’t be easily recycled? Didn’t someone on here get the ghostbusters one before or am I imagining that?

Place it in your cart, go through self checkout, and you’re good to go!

If you really want it, probably don’t ask lol.
My friend has a bunch of displays, usually just puts it in his cart and hopes no one says anything when he pays for his items and leaves.

It might be different with the bigger displays but I've gotten plenty of the Funko displays and the employees just tells me to take them that I don't have to ask if they're empty or I'm buying what's left.

It's still stealing, even if it's just cardboard. The reason they won't give them to you is because they don't want their workers accepting bribes from customers or vendors.

When Toys r Us was closing down I was able to get the actual WWE sign that they have at the front of the aisle. The employee was very helpful even got the ladder out and everything. I tipped them $5 afterwards. Maybe tipping could help!

Im not sure the rules for different stores, id suspect your best chance is to ask the store manager regardless. From my personal experience, im in sales/merchandise for multiple accounts including walmart, they are the strictest about having/taking anything that will be thrown away…it has to be tossed. I dont understand it but i assume someone spoiled it for the rest of us.

Just take that bish....Years ago when Hastings were still open they had a top sign of the Arrowverse that was pretty sweet. I just pulled it out, rolled it up and put a rubber band around it. Went to the register and paid for everything I planned to get and just walked out with it. They never asked

When I worked at a video store, we had these huge Simpsons character cut-out displays, and we always told customers we weren't allowed to give them out. In truth, all of us working there were haggling with each other on which ones we were gonna take home, lol. I got Lisa and Marge.

I'm all for just putting it in the cart -- but do you think they'd accuse you of stealing?
And how could that work at Walmart -- where they check receipts?
