No hyperbole, this is the biggest show AEW has ran yet. The First Dance show happen in front of the largest AEW crowd to date. The card looks solid (more on that in a minute) but the real draw is the (not-so-subtle) return of CM Punk. This is a homecoming and not just because it's in Punk's hometown Chicago. I would argue that AEW wouldn't exist without Punk. The groundwork he laid to rally disenfranchised fans in 2011 is irrefutable. People were taught that WWE was the "be all end all" of wrestling and that nothing outside of it mattered. CM Punk then pointed that mainstream crowd to Ring of Honor, New Japan, and PWG. Those were the places that Omega, the Bucks, (eventually) Cody, and others were hitting their stride. Punk feels like a founding member of AEW without ever working with them. There are only a handful of wrestlers AEW could bring in to really shake up the wrestling landscape and Punk is one of the big ones. This is going to be an all time moment. We know it. Punk knows it. AEW knows it. TNT knows it. Darby knows it. GET PUMPED!
That said, let's look at the card.
Despite losing the title match on Dynamite, Jurassic Express starts their climb back into contention. Private Party will look to show that they're ready for the top spot and haven't just been waiting idly in Matt Hardy's shadow. These two teams have a bright future in AEW but only one can move on the the Finals of the eliminator tournament.
Jade Cargill has been running through AEW like one of those characters in that one video game. You know, the cartoony one where the monsters destroy cities and stuff....Anyway, Jade's been really dominant. She's slowly but surely working her way up the rankings. Can Kiera Hogan pull off the upset over the unbeaten Cargill? Or will Jade continue to build steam?
For those who were unaware of Daniel Garcia three weeks ago, he's exploded onto the scene and has impressed. In the biggest match of his career, he'll be taking on Jon Moxley. Has ol' Danny bitten off more than he can chew? Almost definitely. It'll be exciting to see how Garcia hangs in the ring with Moxley. Speaking of whom, after his promo on Dynamite it seems like Mox is more than ready to continue being AEW's ace. A motivated Jon Moxley should scare the rest of the locker room. Including people coming into the promotion...

Putting this out now, because I'll be traveling to the show tomorrow. I'll post non-spoilery spoilers for Dark stuff and live updates.

I hope they dont swerve people and not have Punk on this show.
That would be the absolute worst thing AEW and Khan could do.

The biggest question is when do you pull him out? If you don't do it at the start it's gonna be hard to be engaged in the matches for the crowd, and that's tough on the wrestlers. But if you do it at the start, where do you do from there with the show?

^End of the show, I'm only really interested in punks return on this card and i doubt I'm the only one, the tag match will be decent but the other two are squashes.

Heads up to anyone in Canada; TSN will be airing this on TV, but after an NFL preseason game at 11 PM in a two hour slot (presumably for when the NFL game runs over). Adjust your PVR accordingly.
(Or just watch it on YouTube like I did last week. *shrugs*)

After listening to Mox’s promo again from last night, I hope he jobs Garcia. He talked about how all of a sudden, everyone and their grandmothers think they can be on top in AEW when he did it for a year during the pandemic. He said it’s time to remind people of who he is, so I’m hoping he destroys Garcia, which will lead to hopefully a match with Tanahashi, or who knows maybe a confrontation with Punk to end the show .

AEW exists because of All In 2018 Tony Khan TNT That said, I will be wearing my Chicago Cubs shirt tomorrow.

I didn't see it live last week just on demand after, but I thought the plan for TSN was to air it on TSN direct only and not on TV.

I think the return should be the opening segment.

Say Punk does show up.. and we obviously would get a figure. When it sells out, what would the prices be like on the Bay?
