Only when it comes to store and online exclusives, if they didn’t exist or were actually obtainable I’d be content

I wouldn't say it keeps me up at night, but I definitely feel overwhelmed by AEW figures right now. Wave 1 and 2 were a serious hunt; then I was just walking into full sets of Wave 3; and then I didn't preorder any after that because Wave 3 was easy to find and I thought Jazzwares corrected their distribution. Now I am still without any Wave 4, 5, 6, or any Unmatched Series 1. Now I just feel like I'm so behind on a line that I really love and I don't have the interest in dropping like $400 on all the missed figures on Ringside.
I've had this feeling sometimes before but no so much as I cut down more and more on buying Mattel figures. I'm just less interested in the characters and the product so I don't find myself buying as many figures.

its getting overwhelming to be honest. because theres SO MUCH crapcoming out like nonstop. these companies are just flying through all kinds of toys/collectibles because they've got everyone addicted to it like a casino.
i love collecting, i love wrestling figures specifically. but i definitely feel like there is just too much stuff coming out in a calendar year, and its only because our society is just gone far beyond reasonable expectations when it comes to profit.....so everything has to be MORE MORE MORE MORE and its getting harder and harder for anyone besides the rich, to keep up

After recently getting back into wrestling figures, I don’t know if overwhelmed is the word but there is definitely a strong emotion connected to it. Narrowing down what to collect has definitely helped minimize the stress, but the SDCC/Mattel Creations/Legends10-12 preorders/online orders/exclusives was enough to make my head spin in the first 2-3 months of starting again. I felt like I hadn’t been supporting because I hadn’t so I backed the ring (mainly so the project could succeed abs the ultimate editions) but up until today it’s been checking various targets in the area for Mustafa and before that WalMart with Kama. This forums been awesome to be apart of, because the findings section has been so helpful and at the same time I wonder if posting also attracts scalpers so it’s another toss up. I’ve also had the liberty of getting around a lot come summer but when I go back to teaching next week it’ll be tough to hunt for the likes of warlord at Walmart. Like anything else it’ll have it’s ups and downs just not letting it control me is helpful. I will say, the most difficult part is hunting down stuff I wish I would have gotten (RSC Exclusives, legion of doom) that I just can’t justify paying for while knowing they won’t make them again.

I tend to sometimes think about how many figures that I currently own, and just how many that I still want to obtain.
Sometimes that can be a little bit daunting, but I never, ever let it stop me from collecting.
I just need to get actual better storage and display, because everything can get muddled together and it looks very crowded.
But no, I generally don't.

I used to get that feeling, but now I have a display case (6ft by 4ft by 2ft). I'll add to the display case and remove old collectibles. The old stuff get's pictured and bagged just in case I want to sell them later.
If it's something that doesn't fit well, like the new Ultimate Ring, it goes directly to storage. If I can display at a later time, I will. However, if not, no big deal.

if you think cost is an issue , well they just went up in price. paying upwards of $25 per elite and $35 for UE. i cant imagine buying 2 just to keep MOC and open one..lol. not sure how some of you afford/do this. especially if your buying every elite , every series. etc... times are only gonna get tougher...inflation is rising everywhere...i suggest re-group and figure out if you wanna keep doing this. getting older and moving on , isnt always a bad thing. Have the prices been increased? For the Ultimate Edition the retail price was $30 and now $35? Is the price already valid for the latest series with Kane and Undertaker UE11?

Members "Brother Love" and "Screech" you are not welcomed in this post. Taking your fighting elsewhere... facebook is good for that. If I see either one of you ruining this post again I will ban you instantly. Again do not come back into this thread and make a post no matter what it is. Thank you.

I'm with you. I would day dream about Jakks losing the license...they did and now here I am still in just as deep with Mattel. Now I keep saying wouldn't that be cool if Mattel changed the line to a 4 inch scale, then I would quit for sure. It's weird, I'm not saying this to brag but I've had a good life. When I was in my 20s, I was out at clubs a few nights a week, going out on dates a few nights then hanging with my buddies the other nights. But I was obsessed with WWE figures. Always showing up late cause of a Toys R Us or Target run. But I've always used Ringside, now it's all I use. Now I've got a wife, kids I love, a house and I'm still obsessed with wrestling figures. I'm an operations manager for a large bank and I'm at work on Ringside a few times a day looking for new preorders. So I get it. I can't quit, I'm just like what if Mattel made a 4 inch line then I could just collect NJPW and AEW. I've got a pile of 20 gallon tote bins full of opened jakks figures in the basement, I'm sure arms just dropping off by the day.

Yeah... what with the cost and storage space, it got to a point a few years ago where I had to sit down and work out what/who I wanted to collect. I also collect Star Wars and superhero figures - and used to collect everything (even if I didn't particularly want it!) just out of habit or because it was on the back of the card/box (or would complete a set)... which is kind of crazy, looking back at things. These days, I tend just to collect figures/things I genuinely want - which is usually the Ultimate Editions and any FTITL Legend/Flashback.

Yeah my response doesn’t change. They’re toys. If they’re stressing you out and not bringing you joy then part ways. You can say you want to sell everything and have one shelf, but how long is that gonna last. This hobby can seem like a drug addiction at times, and while it doesn’t physically deteriorate your body/mind, some people make it sound like it does effect their mental health. I do think about who is gonna have to go through all this crap when I die…oh well their problem. Or just bury me with them… Perfectly said, figures and hunting are my release from stress. If collecting becomes a chore let them go

If collecting becomes a chore let them go A good thing to do is draw lines and have parameters to your collection. It’s just not reasonable or feasible to get everything. I dipped into Marvel Legends and some other random stuff but it’s super limited. Most of my stuff is wrestling and we have to remember it’s collecting for a reason. Not just buy everything when it comes out. It’s such a quick burn feeling to get/open a new figure and not display it. I feel like some people get so much they just have to bin it and what’s the point really? To each their own, but that’s some compulsion I won’t understand. I get if your planning to move, but if your just collecting to have stuff in your storage then you might as well collect dust, because who cares? In my opinion at least. TLDR: I still get bummed when pegs are empty/I miss a figure and it becomes expensive, but the joy I get when I do find something I want or finally get a good deal on that missing piece is greater.

Yes definitely. I started collecting a year ago and I said to myself that I just need to scratch an itch, that I would collect for a year and that's it. A year on and I'm still collecting. Always thinking about what my next collection will be. To make it easier I usually try to finish one series first before going onto something else so that it doesn't seem as overwhelming.
