Can't help but feel it's a cheap win. Glad they saw it in him, but would rather it have been organic instead of a ratings grab. Feels tainted. It makes me wonder what theyโll do the next time RAW loses to non-competition in the 18-49 demo

I like Big E, but there was no build what so ever to this. Heโs been booked as a midcarder at best for nearly a decade. He has no major singles feuds with any legit tops guys that make people go โyeah, heโs on there level.โ There was no story of struggle while moving up the card like we saw with guys like Bret, Austin, Eddie, Benoit, etcโฆwho all worked there way up over a period of years. Itโs just โHey, Big E won one the MITB, now all of a sudden heโs a top guy.โ It was just Vinceโs reaction to loosing the demo to AEW last week and MNF returning. He needed something to grab attention, and while it was a cool moment, there was nothing behind it. And the WWE hasnโt done anything to prove theyโll book a decent reign for him either.

He worked hard for it, shame it took a ratings war for him to get the strap. He was looking like a future champ as far back as when Ziggler cashed in after WM29.

I'm very happy for Big E. If you would have told me around 2013 that Big E was going to be WWE Champion in 2021, I would have asked you why it would take so long.
Maybe do Rollins vs Big E, Reigns vs Edge, and Lashley vs Brock at Mania? I'm not really up-to-date with what's going on, but I would think Mania programs are set right now with the draft coming up.

I'm happy for Big E, but I do agree it feels more like a ratings grab to counteract AEW what with him announcing on Twitter beforehand that he was gonna cash in. As I said, I think he deserves it but it does feel a bit rushed for me, especially since Lashley still had a feud going with Goldberg that you'd assume would lead to another match.

Glad for Big E but I can so totally smell rating grab/ desperation as the reason they did it this way.

Have Big E turn on New Day. Run roughshod through mid card faces each month. Have Kofi come back and win Royal Rumble. Have Xavier Woods turn heel and see the light and join Big E as his manager. Kofi challenges at Wrestlemania and fights for his redemption and Xavier realizes the heart of his friend Kofi and turns on E. Kofi wins and they celebrate. Too easy.

I feel the same way as most do. Great moment but sort of overshadowed by the presentation. It really sucks the heat out of the moment when you announce the cash-in 8 hours before it happens and open the show with a promo reaffirming it. If it was anyone else but Big E, this would've really stunk. The joyous feeling of a great, hardworking talent finally winning the world title at least still made for a memorable moment. The live crowd loved it, too.
On another note, I think a lot of people are overlooking the significance of a black wrestler winning the WWE title from another black wrestler. It didn't feel forced and it is a great step forward in true diversity by WWE. The company can kind of beat a dead horse with that sort of thing (i.e: WM35 main event) but I felt like this was a really cool moment that will be an important part of history.

I donโt mind that he called his shot and announced his intentions. It was a different way to handle MITB. They have never had a briefcase holder basically say Iโm coming out after the match is over to cash in my shot.

I could be wrong, but I am sure Braun Strowman said he was coming out at the end of SummerSlam to challenge Reigns or Lesnar, whoever won that night. But something happened to Strowman during that match and he never challenged.

I really liked when RVD (and probably other people after) called their shot too.

Right, that was where Brock took it and threw it. Guess it was forgetful and like you said it didnโt actually happen. Iโm ok when they come up with another way to do it besides running out cause the guy is down. And apparently it did a lot for morale yesterday because E is seen as a leader and helpful of everyone in the locker room.

Regardless of why it happened or how it happened, it was an amazing moment that most people in the business seem to love. Guy is a workhorse and one of the most over people the company has had in the last ten years. Still buzzing over it. Guess not everyone can enjoy things without being cynical.
