Yeah JR said on his podcast, Sable was the second biggest draw for the WWE behind Austin for a short period, and could basically name her price to the company. Pretty crazy for someone with almost zero wrestling ability. I legit hated Sable from day one. I still remember when Luna came out and told Sable that the only reason she held the belt was because of her looks.
I became a Luna fan instantly over one line in a promo.
That said, yeah, Sable was really big there for a bit. She was one of what, three womens wrestlers in the entire company? Not including Chyna who was wrestling the men?
Then stuff went down, the division got rebuilt, and she went away.
Still would like a Sable figure regardless, just to fill the gap in my collection.
Yeah Trish and Lita showed up, and that was that.

Wow, no one's mentioned Ernie Ladd yet? He should definitely be up there on the WWWF era list.
If we're including people like the Steiners who had decent WWF success but even more success elsewhere, I gotta give a vote to Bull Nakano.

Yeah Trish and Lita showed up, and that was that. Also Tori and Ivory. I feel like they tend to get lost in the shuffle of Attitude Era nostalgia but they were right there in the thick of things too. And Molly, can never forget about Molly.
Interesting point - If you watch the one episode of Table for 3, Alundra (Madusa) is lamenting about her shame over throwing the women's title in the trash and Ivory straight up tells her that if she hadn't thrown the title in the trash, neither she nor Molly ever would have had a job in the WWE. By throwing the title away on Nitro she sparked such outrage over the treatment of it that it eventually led to the women's division being reborn. (At least, that's the theory that Ivory and Molly gave.)
The cyclical nature of Women's Wrestling in the US is a remarkable topic that I'm pretty sure you could write a 20 page essay on.
