It seems that once a champion drops a title they just move on. No rematch. No continuing fight to win it back. It's just over. Mox is the only one I can think of that lost his title and fought back to get it. But Darby, Cody, FTR, Bucks, Shida. They lose there titles and that's it. Like no biggie I'll just move on.
What have guys like FTR, Darby really accomplished since losing those titles?

I'd still say Darby, FTR, and Cody have accomplished things since. They've all had meaningful feuds post title runs. The Bucks just lost them so we'll see, and yeah, Shida hasn't done diddly, which makes me very sad.
That said, as much as I understand why it can seem weird to have a champion just kind of go on the back burner for a bit after losing, I don't mind it. The runs in AEW are usually pretty lengthy, and the champions can be at risk of being oversaturated by coming back chasing their rematches. Having them fade away from the title picture, and sometimes even take a bit of time away from tv, keeps the title scenes fresh and the whole product fresh really.

Cody did get a rematch the first time he lost the TNT Title. That’s how he won it back, lol.
I like that AEW doesn’t do a lot of rematches, whether it’s titles or feuds in general. Maybe it could seem odd to you since WWE has always done rematches and/or automatic rematch clauses? The post above pretty much sums up how I feel about it.

I hate automatic rematches when someone loses a title so I’m fine with them not doing that

I miss Shida but like others have said I'm ok with how things are. Shida is the one that hasn't done anything since losing the title but I don't see a big problem with the rest. Bucks just lost and then got in a big angle with Cole and Darby was in one of the biggest matches in AEW history with Punk.

the way I see it in aew, with the ranking system and all, if you lose your belt you gotta go to the back of the line and work your way back up.
that's the only logical way of explaining shida's situation and until someone makes me think differently, I will stand by that.
I don't want any damn automatic rematches.

That doesn’t preclude Shida from being in a story with someone else. She’s not even on the Dark shows all that often from what I can tell.

AEW has done a piss poor job of booking any of the women besides Baker.

AEW has done a piss poor job of booking any of the women besides Baker.
That's because AEW just rather send the women off to an NWA show and have them compete on it as AEW wrestlers.
I feel that AEW signed way too many women - which can be good and bad. Good if you display them on TV for us to see. Bad if you do nothing with them.
Being that AEW loves having YouTube shows, why not have a weekly YouTube show with just the women wrestlers on it?? It would at least get them noticed by people.

Don't they drop to the bottom of the ranks? Like surely it makes less sense for a guy to get a rematch for the title after eating a loss.. Unless there was shenanigans that caused the loss.

The ranking system is superb - different people in the mix all the time and it's based on how strong they've been made to look through consistent booking. No Jinder Mahals in AEW.

With their roster, you can't have long story feuds. You have to keep it fresh. Otherwise you have massively talented guys just sitting on their hands while Mox and Kenny or wow ... Mox and Jericho are still doing their thing.

I like that auto-rematches for titles arnt a thing. It’s similar to MMA and Boxing. Yes, it happens sometimes in those sports, but more often than not, a new challenger steps up to the new champion. Keeps things fresh and allows the former champ to “refresh” with fans before getting back to it.

What I don't like is that the wrestlers never seem upset after losing a title. It's like theirs no aftermath for the former champion and no straight road. Shida has been a huge victim of this. Last year she was a mega star in the Women's division and after losing the belt she had basically hit rock bottom with no storylines or feuds.
If the former champ does fall to the bottom of the ladder then they should at least cut a small segment vowing to someday get the belt back.

I don't think they've found the balance yet between keeping it fresh and sustaining pushes. The booking can be very hyper. I mean, it's clear that they have some specific long-term projects, with the way they've co-opted the Four Pillars idea, but the amount of stop-start pushes gives the promotion an Everyone in the Pool feel. In its own way, this approach can prioritize the Brand over the stars just as much as WWE does. I absolutely don't feel rewarded as a viewer for my interest in specific talents, and I'm not so enamored with the idea of AEW that I enjoy following the show just for the show.
