Two of the best color commentators in wrestling history, both played well against Gorilla Monsoon and created many lasting memories to those watching the WWF in the 80's and early 90's. But which one do you think was the better partner for Gorilla? The Body or The Wease-er, Brain?

I voted Jesse Ventura
Nothing against Bobby Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon, they were great together on Wrestling Challenge, but when I think of the big PPV matches and who called those matches, Monsoon and Ventura are the ones.

How the hell do I pick this one??!!
I'll go with Jesse just for the fact they called more PPVs together.
Like I said many times in the past here, these 2 are the best heel commentators of all time and its not close. People wanting to be in the biz should take notes from these two on how its done.

I think Gorilla & Jesse had more iconic calls but if you told me I had to pair announcers off Id do Vince/Jess and Gorilla/Heenan

As a comic foil, Heenan. But the question was best commentary partner, and that’s Jesse hands down.

I’ve gone with Heenan, simply because it was those two when I started watching. Plus Jesse couldn’t have delivered half the performance the Weasel did at RR92!

I voted Jesse. I give the slight edge in humor to Heenan but where Jesse really cannot be touched is the kayfabe aspect that was so important in that era. Jesse really made everything seem like a big deal, even random announced matched for a show he would emphasize the importance of the mysterious championship committee and how wins and losses really impacted your standing.

No option for Superstar Billy Graham? He was my favorite as a kid and even now.
But with no Superstar option, I also vote for Jesse. I like comedy but Bobby was a bit too much with the comedy. He and Gorilla knew each other in real life a bit "too good" and while it is evident now it wasn't known back in those days so it seemed like two guys who hated each other were just bickering. With Gorilla and Jesse, they were face and heel fans but they could both come together on the show and enjoy each other's company. Bobby and Gorilla were a bit closer together in age so I'm sure they got along better in real life but it seemed like Gorilla and Jesse got along better on the show and to me as a kid that was more enjoyable. Also I didn't watch Prime Time so I only knew Bobby and Gorilla as a team on the PPVs so I didn't see their comedy.

Gorilla was great with pretty much everyone he worked with. Dug out some Challenge episodes recently circa 94/5 and the little runs he had with JR/DiBiase were fantastic.
My fav play by play guy of all time.

Gorilla was the total package. He could educate you with his terminology and history lessons but still speak to you as an equal.

It kind of goes underrated but Gorilla Monsoon and Johnny Polo were really good together too.
If you watch any old WWF Coliseum Videos from 1994 those two are usually doing the commentary, if it's not them it's Stan Lane and Ted DiBiase together.
But I used to love Polo razzing Monsoon when Joey Marella was the referee. And Monsoon having to no sell that, the same as what Ventura would do to Monsoon too.

I am in the middle of watching WCW Saturday Night 1993 stuff and Jesse and Tony are doing the commentary.
Funny thing though, I remember I never cared for Tony and Jesse doing commentary for SummerSlam 89 or Royal Rumble 90. Yet, I love them doing commentary together in WCW.
Not sure why I didn't like their WWF stuff, maybe it was because of how Tony was calling the matches. He seemed more relaxed in WCW with Jesse doing it.
