I finally watched Halloween (2018). Yeah I did not know going in that it ignores every film prior to it except for the original. I thought it was ok. From storytelling I think it kind of sucked that they had a character(Dr. Ranbir Sartain) whose only purpose was to get Michael back to Laurie, because without the family connection Michael has no motivation to go after her. He just wants to kill and doesn't matter who it is. Take out Sartain and I think Michael goes on a killing spree making Laurie have to go after Michael, which I think could have worked. But then again it made buckets of money so what do I know. That’s essentially what it looks like Halloween Kills is. Laurie and her family hunting him down as he just murders everyone. That is brilliant. Make people see the first one because they have that thirst to see Jamie Lee back at it and then hit them with the chase sequel. My Halloween tier now that I've finished them all and they were fresh in my mind:  |

Reminds me of the old "Dracula vs Frankenstein" movies. Loved them. It doesn't remind you at all of Destroy All Monsters? Aha! There's probably a genre between gigantic monsters (Godzilla, King Kong, etc.) & horror monsters (Dracula, Jason, etc.) I raise this question, though. What happens if Michael Myers meets Frankenstein? Jason meets Dracula? The Wolfman meets Chucky? I bet Robot Chicken would have a field day with it. |

Honestly mine would be about the same. I might switch out H20 and 2018, only because I like that version of Laurie more and hate the cgi mask. I'm a little biased when it comes to H20 because it was directed by Steve Miner. |

Finished watching Halloween Kills. I thought it was a fun movie, the Kills are great. The story is good, but the best part was Micheal Myers.
Your thinking "Duh, Micheal is the best part" but in this movie, I think this is my favorite portrail of him. Aside from the original.

Halloween Kills was trash. People rag on Halloween Resurrection but atleast it’s a “so bad it’s good” film. I have a good time watching that one. Kills was just hard to get through. Cringy dialogue that nobody in the real world would ever say, a plot that doesn’t move the story forward at all, “Rambo” Lauri, constant humor that kills tension (and really isn’t funny either), and characters so stupid that I’m convinced they knew they were in the middle-movie of a trilogy (Lauri literally narrates it).
And I really hate “Rambo” Lauri. H20 has its issues, but that’s a way more believable version of Lauri that I can buy into (someone who carries a lot of baggage based on what they went through but still has managed to put somewhat of a life together). This new version is way to ridiculous and over the top. Spews cringy lines and dialogue that nobody would ever say, booby-trapped her home ala Home Alone, and despite knowing Michael was locked up for 40 years, decided to stay living in Haddonfield her whole life and let that night run her next 40 years.

Overall, I think Halloween Kills is a solid movie. Still not a big fan of the over use of gore. Makes it felt like it’s from a different franchise. Sometimes it feels more like sh** Zombie did in his two. That said, Michael is an absolute beast here. Killing without reason and certainly not caring about Laurie. Halloween night 1978 she may have been his target, and in 2018 he may have been brought to her, but he is just a killer that kills what’s in his path. The mob mentality makes sense too. We’ve seen it through history. We’ve also seen what happens when it gets out of hand and the wrong people suffer from it. I look forward to Ends. I expect an actual conclusion to the story. As for my opinion, based on enjoyment and not what I think is superior:

4. H20
5. Halloween Kills
6. Season Of The Witch
7. Halloween 4

Also watched the first episode of the Chucky series and thought it was pretty decent. Out of all the major horror franchises, Chucky seems to have the most consistent timeline and story and I love seeing it continue.

I watched Halloween Kills last night...I dunno, felt kinda cheesy to me like I was watching a B rated slasher. I never got that feeling from the originals but then again I watched those as a kid and legit probably havent seen them in 20+ years.

I'm watching Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky tonight before I go into the TV series since I haven't seen them. Child's Play is one of my favorite pictures in general not just in Horror, and I thought 2 & 3 were ok. I wasn't a fan of Bride or Seed, I honestly haven't seen them since they came out so maybe I'd have a different opinion now.

I almost skipped Seed entirely when it came out because it did the one major thing my mind couldn't handle. It's silly I know, it is very silly that I can suspend disbelief that a man can transfer his soul into a doll, perhaps it's the way it was presented and shot by Holland. What I can't do is the whole having a kid, it makes no sense, they don't or shouldn't rather, have the parts to reproduce. And I know it's silly, it's just a movie. But I really like Ronny Yu, even though his American output hasn't been great, so again I think Bride visually looked good, part of that story I didn't like and Seed was pretty much about the one thing my mind just could not wrap my brain around. I really like Don Mancini and I do applaud him for his consistency with 2-Seed, even though another gripe of mine was the whole heart of damballa in Bride. It's like "Mate I've seen Child's Play more times than I can count which isn't very high but still I KNOW Charles Lee Ray didn't have that on him in the first picture". And with that I'm off to watch Curse and then Cult. |

What I love about these new Halloween movies is that Michael doesn’t give a solitary  about Laurie. Forty years ago she was just the first girl he saw after going home. Then after escaping 40 years later he only went after her because he was brought to her. Michael just wants to kill. No rhyme. No reason. So Laurie ruined her families life because she thought it was all about her. Now she’s going to go after him like she assumed he’d do to her all those years. |

Watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre II for the first time. Not sure if that was the worst, the silliest, the most tonally different, or somehow the best sequel ever made. Possibly all four.

Watched Old and Halloween Kills both in the last week, sad to say both of them are some of the worst, most poorly written films I’ve seen recently. Old showed me that, somehow, Shymalan is still in decline after all these years, and the man can’t write relatable characters or execute on a compelling concept to save his life. Halloween Kills, on the other hand, is a complete 180 tonally from Halloween 2018, and turning Michael into Jason Voorhees doesn’t work for me at all. I also watched Titane, which was weird as , but beautiful. Have an irredeemable protagonist, but I can’t help but respect and appreciate the craftsmanship and artistry of that film. |
