Just a curious little thread. How would you see it play out had Triple H not got injured before the WCW/ECW "Invasion" in 2001?
I'm honestly not sure, I think had he not got injured then Stephanie wouldn't have been anywhere near ECW and not been a big part of the angle. I think we'd have seen Austin turn on Triple H, breaking up the two man power trip, going by what had started at Judgement Day 2001 with Austin costing Tripe H the IC title by "accident".
Taking that into account, I still think we'd have seen Austin as the leader of the Alliance and Triple H would have turned and been the leader of Team WWF before Rock came back.
It's something to think about what could have happened.
Just thought this would be fun, what do you think would have happened?

I still can't figure out where Triple H would fit in that whole angle that took place from June - November of 2001. Triple H getting injured when he did may have been a blessing for him and for that angle. Because I have zero idea what he could have done during those months.
A heel turn to align with WCW/ECW seems likely, but at the same time, it really wouldn't fit Triple H's character. Maybe he'd be the big baby face to lead the WWF on in their war against the Alliance?? I doubt that too at the time. And if they had that, Angle wouldn't have gotten his chance to shine.
I remember hearing a rumor from guys inside the wrestling business back in 2001 that Triple H wasn't really that injured. That he took the time off because of that angle taking place. But I don't know what to believe.

He would have buried all the ECW/WCW guys. Could have potentially ruined RVD's WWE run. At least RVD and Booker had some time to build themselves as stars before HHH returned in 2002. Then they were in the mid card for the most of 2002-07.

Imagine it actually was worked and he had us all believe he was a tough SOB and finished match with torn quad. Hilarious!

I can only imagine he would be the WWF babyface rather than Kurt Angle in the beginning. Kurt may have still ended 2001 with a big push following 9/11, being the American hero and winning the WWF title. But I imagine Triple H Vs Stone Cold would've main evented SummerSlam 2001.
Triple H was so ready to pop off as a top babyface for the company. You can tell by his 2002 return that the crowd was ready to cheer him again.
2000-2001 Triple H, to me, is one of the greatest in-ring runs of all time. He has so many matches in there that just remain as GOAT tier. I really think the momentum he had would've pushed him to an incredible spot. After his return in 2002, he was sort of fumbled around and given some really boring angles until turning heel. I can really picture Triple H turning face in June 2001, carrying team WWF through the Invasion, and still going up from there as the top of the company.

I don't know how the Invasion would have played out with HHH involved, but it would have ended with... 1st ever Undisputed WWF / WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Triple H!!

Yea it was suppose to be Triple H instead of Angle, they started to build that literally a day or two before Trips got injured between Austin costing Triple H at Judgment Day and Triple H blowing it for the team the next night on Raw. I assume KOTR becomes a fatal four way instead of triple threat and continues to tease the tension between Austin and H.
Also what Triple H being around during the invasion does is probably bury the invasion angle even further. With Rock coming back at Summerslam I would assume that Angle, Jericho, maybe Big Show probably turn with Austin way sooner to try to even out the star power which leads to a further WWF vs. โWCWโ WWF angle during the invasion then it already was.

I think Austin-HHH was always the motive. Many said without the Two Man Powertrip; they would of either came to blows at Summer Slam 01 or WrestleMania 18 in a Hell in a Cell with the two swapping roles. Or we get the Invasion side of it. Either way I think WWE was hell bent at those two having one final blow off.

I can't see Triple H as this courageous/heroic leader banding team WWF together & leading them into the promise land against the Alliance, i really can't.. I know he was a face for a short term when he returned at the start of 2002 but the guy just loves playing a bad guy so much for most of his career, Triple H as a face just seems wrong especially after the year he had feuding with the Rock & Austin in 2000 & teaming with Austin in early 2001..
After all, he was the guy behind mowing Austin down with help from Rikishi, the dude was everywhere when the time was needed for a dastardly heel
From my perspective, i'd see him either switching roles with Austin as the WWF guy turning at Invasion to join up with the Alliance, so Stephanie would still be storyline ECW owner and the two would be together in the same faction and Austin would be the WWF leader or..
He'd take Kurt's role as being the inside mole, screwing Austin at Survivor Series and revealing he was really team WWF all along just to stick it to Austin one last time..
I'm just wondering if Triple H was still around, how this all would effect Kurt?.. would he still be in the main event scene or would Triple H & Austin cloud up that world title picture?

Itโs been mentioned in a few reports at the time that HHH would have been in the Kurt Angle โheroic babyfaceโ role and going against Austin. And I donโt think it would have worked at all. Kurt was perfect in that role and his feud against Austin legitimized him as a true badass and main eventer to the fans (Kurtโs first title run didnโt do much to put him on the level of guys like Rock and Austin in fans eyes at the time).
HHH has always worked as a heel, and I feel like weโd have seen the โreign of terrorโ start sooner than it did with HHH dominating everyone on team WCW/ECW (well, worse than the burial they did receive). Sucks he was hurt, but I think fans dodged a huge bullet by him missing the entire angle.
