So I broke down and picked up the new Omega Supreme...48 and change (plus tax) at Wally World.
So let's have a look, shall we?
OMEGA SUPREME
Allegience: Autobot
Powerlinx Classification: Black (combines with Optimus Prime)
Transformation Skill Level: 4 (Expert)
Transformations: Construction Mode, Cruiser Mode, Cybertronian Armored Supertrain, Robot Mode, Head Robot Mode, Cruiser Battle Platform Mode, Construction Battle Platform Mode
STATS:
Strength: 10
Intelligence: 8
Speed: 6
Endurance: 6
Rank: 4
Courage: 10
Fireblast: 9
Skill: 9
Hmm...where to begin...so anyway, Omega comes packaged in his robot mode, with so many twist ties that it looks like Hasbro is trying to prevent him from escaping.
The first thing I noticed when I got Omega out of his box was...his head fell off. And his head transforms into a 2.5" robot, a bit of a throwback to the Headmasters of old. In robot mode, Omega is 16" tall, roughly on par with Unicron.
The transformations are pretty straightforward...in fact, the only reason it's a level 4 is because it's so big, and there's so many modes. The robot splits into 2 pieces; one side transorms into a construction vehicle (with extending claw), the other into a battle cruiser (with rotating missile turret and electronic lights & sounds). The 2 vehicles each can trasform into a Battle Platform mode (a standing weapon that is best operated by Super Optimus Prime), and the 2 combined creates the 32" long Cybertronian Armored Supertrain.
Cruiser mode resembles an aircraft carrier of sorts. It has 4 rotating turrets, 3 of which are connected to a dial, and one of which fires 2 missiles. Construction mode doesn't resemble any construction vehicle I've ever seen...but it's yellow, and has the extending claw.
And then...the coup de grace...being that Omega bears the black Powerlinx logo, that means he can combine with Super Optimus Prime to create Powerlinx Omega Supreme. The transformation is pretty simple; start with Omega Supreme in Robot Mode and Optimus in Truck mode. Pull up Optimus' head and swing around his Super Mode helmet. Then you remove Omega's head, pull apart the halves, swing his head panel up, open the hatches on his back, put Optimus inside, and put the halves back together. Then there are spots on his right shoulder, right forearm, and legs where the Prime Force vehicles can be attached. When all is said and done, he's no taller, but he weighs more. Closer to the size of a small infant.
Anyway, altogether, I give Omega Supreme a 9/10. It'd be a 10, if not for the price and the difficulty removing it from the packaging.
PICS:
Cruiser Mode.
Cruiser Battle Platform Mode.
Construction Mode.
Construction Battle Platform Mode.
The Cybertronian Armored Supertrain.
Robot Mode.
A headshot.
Omega's head in Robot Mode.
Omega sizes up to Unicron.
And...what costs $90 and is roughly the size of a small child? Why, that would be Powerlinx Omega Supreme.
So let's have a look, shall we?
