Was their a kayfaybe reason given for why Hogan's title defense was in middle of the show and not the end?

At that time, Vince always liked to send the fans home happy. To do that, he always had a fan favorite winning the last match. Same thing happened with Bret at King of the Ring 94 and Survivor Series 1994, both times the bad guy won so that match went on in the middle of the card, Piper won the last match at KOTR94 and Undertaker won the last match at SSE94 to send the fans home happy. As for kayfabe, no it was never brought up. But the WWF had been doing that for years so it wasn't uncommon for the main event to not go on last. A lot of the old SNME shows always had the main event on 1st or 2nd.

To kinda piggyback off the original comment, I didnt grow up during that era so was it kinda easy to spot when the title was gonna change hands from a guy like Hogan or Bret when they were randomly booked middle of the show as opposed to the main event?

You usually got the feeling something was going to happen when they put the World Title match in the middle.Title change/screwy finish for sure.

Little unknown fact about Hulk Hogan is that he has a twin brother named Hollywood Hogan who wrestled in WCW.

Short answer to the OP, no. There was no kayfabe reason for it.

I always thought the dead giveaway a title was going to change hands was that it was always SUPER shiny when the defending champion came out.
