So I’ve been contemplating opening my figures and become a mostly loose collector instead of a mostly MOC collector.
I want to open them so I can display them (I would need to buy a shelf as well if I do this, preferably a Detolf) but I want to keep them MOC in case I decide to sell my collection off again so I can try to get the most value.
What are your guys’ thoughts? Should I say to heck with it and open them or should I keep them MOC? Also please feel free to use this as a thread to show your collections. I love seeing people’s set ups!

I love seeing people’s set ups! I've got a bit of both. Some moc, some loose. Some I bought loose, and some I bought MOC then opened. I've usually only opened ones I had multiple of, though. I don't have anywhere to display my figs though, so they are all in storage boxes, and plastic containers anyway. |

I do both TBH. I'm mainly a loose collector, but I have a decent a mount that I keep MOC for various reasons (mostly chases or exclusives, but some I save to get singed one day, some I'll keep MOC just because I think they look better that way, and sometimes I will buy a duplicate figure to keep MOC. Honestly, I think if you're conflicted, I would open most of them, and then keep certain ones MOC on a case by case basis.

Collected moc for several years and to me it was to much of a headache trying to order figures hoping you would get them in decent shape and the box not all beat up, then I started running out of room. So it was an easy decision to start opening them, they also look better displayed. If I see one I like moc, I’ll just buy 2 . I just bought a 4 shelf book shelf from a target.

I open everything. If it’s something I really like/want I will keep an extra for mib.

If you have the funds then do both loose and MOC. If not then keep the exclusives or unique packages MOC, those usually look cool displayed. |

Opening them is half the fun, the hunt is the other lol but with places like Amazon around the hunt might slow down Nah the hunt is awful. My Walmarts are stocked up on E86, E87, and Hollywood elites. No Targets nearby and when I do get to go to one it’s shelf warm city there, too. |

i open everything carefully and keep all my empty boxes in my off-site storage unit. that way when/if i do sell, i can repack them for a little more value

They mostly are always out of stock on elites but when I do find AEW or WWE "elites" it's something warming or they're just womens figures which I personally dont collect. Only bc they arent anymore or less posable than basics so I can never justify paying elite prices for a basic figure. |

Personally I hate how almost every series goes through box design changes. A bunch of different sized boxes sitting on a shelf just doesn’t work as well. That’s why I love Ultimates, because they display so well together. Loose look better displayed together so I’d definitely say that’s the way to go. Maybe only display loose the ones you know you’d never resell.

I’ve got a pretty big variety of both. Some doubles
I love the “collector” vibe of MOC. Especially exclusives and figures that pop
I also love loose as it takes up way less space and is more versatile for setting up displays and stuff.

My thoughts are, keep them MOC if you are planning to sell them and display them if you plan to keep them. I'm keeping my figures with me so I open and display all. I get nothing out of MOC collecting, I might as well save a picture of the toy.

Mix isn’t a bad idea
I have a collection of sonic the hedgehog figures and I have them all loose apart from those in the 30th anniversary packaging which I’ve kept moc

Probably 90%+ of my collection is MOC but I like having a little of both on display. So I would agree with some of the comments of opening some and keeping your favorites MOC until you're 100% sure,so you not gonna be upset with your choice.

Just went to a Target yesterday and they had 3 UE 10 Cenas and like 3 Top Picks McIntyres |
