I was a bit late to collecting Mattel figures so I’m still catching up on cancelled waves etc. I’ve seen that the original Series 5 lineup was: Akeem One Man Gang (Cancelled) Macho Man Arn Anderson (later released on Matty Collector) Tully Blanchard (later released on Matty Collector) Rick Martel Bam Bam Bigelow Series 7 Legends wave was: Andre the Giant (released later on Matty Collector) Magnum TA (released later in Elite line) Stone Cold (released later in HOF line) DDP (released later on Matty Collector) Did we ever know what the wave was for Series 8? I’ve heard one was Miss Elizabeth (released later in Elite line) but was it ever confirmed?        |

liz was originally a Matty Collector figure moved to elite 19

Perhaps also big boss man, Yokozuna, papa shango but I’m just making that up.
I wonder if one man gang was intended to be in the legends series.

Was there anything additional that come with Matty Collector figs?
The motu ones had nice shipping boxes which they come in with the figure name etc on. Were the wwe ones shipped di liar or just in a regular box?

Miss Elizabeth was supposed to be in the Legends line but got moved to Elite 19 where she was packed in every other case

Yeah, this is still my favorite packaging they have done. I like that they at least went back to the color and design styles they used for these for the new legends line. I wish more of the tag teams would have been put in the two-packs like the Rockers and Bushwhackers. I think Demolition, LOD, Hart Foundation, Brain Busters, Nasty Boys, etc. all would have looked great in that packaging. |

i remember i had started collecting elites around the time the legends line was dying out and they were being relegated to mattycollector distribution. i bought all of the mattycollector releases. really wish i still had them all though (esp. bundy)😭
its just so strange / awesome to see the steve austin and the magnum actually get released years later. there were a vocal minority that were absolutely clamoring for the magnum ta figure to be released and the steve austin figure became like the jeff hardy elite where a few 'prototype' figures would pop up on the bay and sell for hundreds of dollars

Tag Packs wave 2 was The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers never shown, Rockers, BrainBusters, Von Erichs plans kept changing after the 2 packs failed in TRU. The Matty poll was really everything that was coming out or got moved into the mainline as flashbacks some took longer to get, but that was pretty much the road map they were following. One Man Gang was rumored for series 8 along with Rikishi.

I remember something about Andre supposedly coming with an 80s-style Elite Scale Ring, but it was so long ago now that I can't recall.

I bet at least some of those early Elite Flashbacks were intended for Legends. I remember hearing that WWE were a little more restrictive about modern talent being under the umbrella of Legends though, so I wonder if E12 Kane was ever going to be a part of it? I think there was an interview or something back 10 years ago with someone bringing up Undertaker, but Undertaker was an active talent at that time and they couldn't do it under the Legends line...something like that. I may be misremembering so forgive me if I am, I just recall something hazy about it.
