Fun one here, but I was imagining what the waves could have looked like if Legends never got cancelled. We know that DDP, Andre, Stone Cold and Magnum were due to be in series 7, but what about the next waves? Before Legends, we didn't have flashback figures so I'm assuming these were put into the main line as a substitute for Legends. Therefore, I used these Flashback figures to create my best guess for the next series of Legends. Could any of these have turned around the line???  |

8 definitely woulda had Rockers Shawn and Marty.

And the future series woulda probably consisted on the people in the Matty Collector poll. Also keep in mind that there was a rule at the time that no active wrestler could be in the legends line so guys like Kane, Taker, HHH, and Edge wouldn’t have been included.

Two packs were dead before that. That’s why the Von Erichs were in 6. I’m sure the Rockers woulda eventually gotten moved into single packs.

I agree, from the list, Bundy, Windham, Don Murcaco, Tito, Savio, OMG, M$M, Snuka v2 and Farooq would have been in some of these waves I think. Maybe OP should replace the 'active' guys with these. Probably wouldn't be far away then! Great topic...also good point above about active wrestlers being excluded due to the veto.
Part of me has always felt Mattel cancelling legends was a strategic move in relation to the main elite line. It gave that line padding because without the FBs in there? They would struggle with lineups.
Having even 2 fbs in the elite waves kept everything fresh & took pressure off the current roster roll outs

The good news is that they are still going! This is a Fun what if though. Series 15 would be my number 1 pick. Mattel has done a very good job!
I am not posting anywhere near as much as I used to because the LEGENDS is by far my favorite line - but with what WWE is willing to do with legends deals combined by what Mattel is willing to make ... I see less 1st in the line Legends! Whether they are released as a Legends line or within a elite line .. it doesn't matter to me as much as making NEW LEGENDS! Surprised we have sputtered so much and feel less optimistic of 70's, 80's and even 90's new figures. Hope I am proven wrong.

I always thought the cancellation was kind of a knock-on effect of the MattyCollector offerings flopping. It seemed like they wanted to move the line there because they had the subscription infrastructure built from MOTU Classics, but then it just didn't work at all. I was never sure why, but Club Infinite Earths for the DC line underperformed too. Only MOTU really succeeded there.

I think those lineups look awesome, but yeah, the aforementioned “no active wrestlers” rule would’ve killed it anyway. That would’ve meant potentially Kane, Edge, Taker, HHH, the Outlaws, Nash, Christian etc being taken out.
And looking at what would replace them, it’s generally a lot of plain, older stuff like the Brain Busters, Bundy etc. So I think the trades there would hurt its chances a lot.

I do find it funny that they handcuffed themselves with their first two flashback lines. First with Legends where they had to be inactive talent and then with Hall of Fame where they could only use Hall of Famers.

Without active talent, I think the waves would have been:
Series 8 - Bundy, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Big Bossman
Series 9 - Papa Shango, King Booker T, Yokozuna, Miss Elizabeth
Series 10 - Mankind, Honky Tonk Man, Macho Man, Warrior
Series 11 - Bruno, Rikishi, Crush, Lex
Series 12 - Hawk, Animal, Rock, Vader

I would have loved to have seen some of these on Legends carding. Especially Elizabeth, Boss Man, and Papa Shango.

Still disappointed we got a Demolition Crush instead of Kona Crush (only because we never got another Adams figure since)
