First reported on Fightful, Sami is here to stay.
Hot take: In the last two years Sami has been one of the best booked characters in wrestling. He’s been a predominant part of Smackdown. He doesn’t need a World title either, though I’d love to see it happen one day. This gives me hope that this will be the year we finally get him and Kevin as tag champions. The potential for matches with New Day, Usos, Profits, American Alpha, the Mysterios and even Roode/Ziggler sounds incredible to me.
So congrats to Sami on getting paid.

No surprise there. Good for him, I'm guessing much like K.O. he was able to get a pretty good $ value out of his contract, and he does so much philanthropy stuff with Sami for Syria.

Sami’s been so prominent on WWE programming for so long there’s really no surprise for me here. While there are alternatives for guys to take outside of WWE, Impact seems like a step down for him at this time and so would anywhere else and there’s only so much space in AEW and that roster is getting more and more bloated so I don’t see how he’d benefit there really considering how important Sami is to WWE with the Logan Paul booking, the Intercontinental title stuff before it, Sami for Syria, etc. He’s not lost in the shuffle and he’s obviously happy with how he’s booked. Good stuff.

One of my favourite guys on the roster since like 2016. Great news!

Personally he's never been one of my favourites, but can't deny his talent and delighted for him.

go get that money i guess. Why do you sound bitter that he signed and didn't go elsewhere. It sounds like you are assuming that he ONLY stayed for the money. Is it impossible to imagine that he might actually be happy or enjoy working for WWE?

And in other news water is wet. I mean, this makes me very happy that it's official, but after Kevin re-signed, the only way this wasn't happening was if the WWE refused to offer him a new contract.
I only pray that the WWE doesn't do something horrible like release one and not the other. The size of Kevin's contract is prime pickings for one of their "Budget Cuts" and I can't imagine that Sami got the same kind of deal.

Just like KO, I'm happy that Sami re-signed.
Good for him. He's been one of the best on TV for a couple years now, look forward to seeing what he does in the future.

I think Sami just knows his spot in the WWE. He knows he's a great hand, an entertaining character, can main event or open a show, can be the popcorn match, can be the highlight of the night moment.
Why go elsewhere and get lost in the shuffle and wrestle for a YouTube show constantly when you can appear on Friday night network TV each week?? Makes sense to me why Sami stayed with the WWE.

I'm not saying he should've left, but that wouldn't have happened to him. He'd be getting treated more like Adam Cole (IE show up on Dynamite and/or Rampage every week) than Tony Nese.

Jay Lethal comes to mind. I have seen him on Dynamite twice since debuting with AEW.... now he's on their YouTube show tagging with Sonny Kiss.
Sami doesn't need to be lost in the shuffle of the constant signings of AEW. Guys like Andrade went there to better themselves and Andrade hasn't wrestled on Dynamite in forever!
Sami is being used constantly for WWE television. He doesn't feel the need to go have a 5 star match to pump up his ego like Daniel Bryan needs to do, Sami just needs to entertain and collect the WWE phat money!

[/quote] I don't understand how wanting to put on great matches because you love wrestling is a bad thing. He may be pumping his kayfabe ego, but the man just loves professional wrestling. Beyond that I agree. Even reading the young bucks book they were talking about how much Sami was a pioneer in figuring out ways to get paid as an independent wrestler and actually survive, and that he's always been very conscious of the financial side of wrestling and it being a means to an end as well as something he enjoys. Absolutely nothing wrong with either of those ideas. Some people are more financially motivated, and in both of their cases they're already set for life so if they prefer to just chase the best matches that they can do, they can comfortably do that as well, like Bryan did. (Though I'm sure he got paid very well by TK). The idea that everyone should be motivated by money above all else is a warped perversion of capitalism that has nothing to do with its actual purpose, though it failed at that purpose a long, long time ago. BD loves wrestling, he went where he could do the best in ring action. Sami is happy and well paid, and that's his primary motivator right now. Also fine. Not that I'm trying to paint Sami as Gordon gecko, the dude loves his charity work and does a hell of a lot of good for the world.

Fun AEW fact: Andrade has had more managers than he’s had singles matches on TV. Sami might get lost in the shuffle there like the others, but he’s exceptionally talented and unique in a way that Andrade, Undisputed Era, Ruby Riott etc aren’t. WWE has struck gold by having Sami essentially play himself (or at least the version of himself that Cliff Compton hilariously talks about) - he’s doing the best work of his career right now. If he has the urge to bust his head open on indie shows at all, he can still do that in a few years.

He is WWE through & true. I can't picture him anywhere else. He wouldn't fit.
