Why did he paint half his body black? I wasn't offended just curious. Also why did he use a Michael Jackson glove in the middle of the match & most importantly why didn't he get disqualified?

Piper was trying to say that he fights for all people, black and white. This was done because of Bad News Browns' character being somewhat of a black militant who did not like white people. As for the glove, I believe Piper made a reference to the Michael Jackson song "Black or White" during the promo before the match, which was sort of the inspiration to the angle for Piper. I guess technically wearing a glove doesn't automatically call for a disqualification. The Rockers and Power and Glory both wore gloves around this time. Technically it doesn't count as a disqualification unless the glove is loading with something.

Amazing we are.

Wrestlemania 6 was in 1990
Black or White came out in 1991
Just a f.y.i.

I can't remember the exact lead up to it but I believe the whole thing started when Bad News told Piper that white people are always trying to be black and to go to the beach more to darken his skin. I might be missing some details but that is like where it kind of snowballed to Piper painting his skin.
In the lead up to the feud, Piper did a few promos about how he could be black and then start singing Michael Jackson songs and then say or he could be white and sing Tiny Tim. Then in the promo right before the match at mania, Piper can be heard very briefly and very low singing/saying Billy Jean. So in the match when he pulled the glove out, Ventura calls it a Michael Jackson glove.

I still cant believe Jakks was able to make a figure of this, even though it was a 1/100. Can you imagine the outrage if Mattel made one (and in a Wrestlemania Basic line), LOL?

The reason why Roddy Piper was half black was because he greased himself up in butter and went on top of a roof to tan. He made the mistake of rolling over and only tanning one half of his body. Thus why he looked how he looked at Wrestlemania VI.

Amazing we are. No irony. Roddy Piper talking down Bad News Brown about his "big bug eyes" that are about to "pop right outta them sockets", "out of proportion ears", "dilated nostrils", and "BIIIIIIGGGGG MOUTH", all while shucking and jiving on the his painted side. If it's hard for anyone to see the stereotypical racist undertones in that, get some glasses.

I was a HUGE Piper fan up until Wrestlemania 3. Anything after that was cringeworthy. Especially when he was doing topical references in his promos.
Give me heel Piper anytime.

If it's hard for anyone to see the stereotypical racist undertones in that, get some glasses. Plus you have his promos on Mr. T around and at Wrestlemania 2 and some derogatory comments towards Bruno as an Italian. I don't believe there was ever "kayfabe" with Piper, I think it was all his real self. He gets a pass unlike Hogan because he sadly passed young, was a great family man and was nice to everyone at autograph signings. I never really cared for Piper the wrestler/commentator myself. I liked him as an actor but just really didn't get his act in wrestling.

I liked him as an actor but just really didn't get his act in wrestling. It's well known and documented he completely bought into the "controversial" aspects that the industry thrived on, and still dabbles in today, all in the effort to draw heat and make money. He did it as a heel, he did it as a face. Whether or not he was exercising some of his own demons and prejudices in the ring, he was able to operate in a more tolerantly intolerant society within the safe space the business granted him, and became mightily successful doing it.
