So “technically” Chris Benoit won the WWF Title not once, but twice in the year 2000 (Fully Loaded and Unforgiven), only to have both matches restarted by Commissioner Foley.
Anyone else feel like they were trying to lay the seeds for a potential feud between the two? Yes, Foley had retired earlier in the year, but did come back for his WM match (and became a full-time competitor again years later). Benoit was also playing his “unhinged” gimmick at the time, and it seemed like he’d have attacked Foley at some point in retaliation for restarting both matches.
Instead, the WWF/E never followed up with this, and Benoit went on to work with HHH for a month before becoming one of Hunter’s goons right after that (a ridiculous story-point for another day).
Anyone else feel like they were teasing a feud with the two? Would you have wanted to see Foley/Benoit in 2000?

I wouldve been for it. You know it would be physical as all hell with these two.
Make it a street fight and just let em beat the sh** outta each other.

It's possible that they had plans for that, in hopes that Mick could make a return to the ring in a wrestling capacity in late 2000 or even early 2001.
I found it extremely funny at the Unforgiven PPV when it happened to Benoit again. I remember my buddy being so angry about it since he was such a huge Benoit fan, his exact words were, "Dammit, Foley!!" I laughed at least ha ha ha

I was such a huge Benoit fan too. It's funny, up until that horrible weekend in June 2007, I was always a hardcore Benoit fan. Now?? Well, I still appreciate the wrestler he was, but the man is a different story sadly.

I couldve did without the alliance with Shane but Benoit was a great heel during this time period I didn’t mind the alliance with Shane as it gave Benoit a mouthpiece so he could focus on being a silent badass. My problem was “Rock vs The McMahons” had been done to death by that point, so seeing Rock and Shane feud again wasn’t anything new.

We should have gotten Foley vs Benoit feud and Foley vs Jericho feud in 2000.
