Mattel made the flash Rey Mysterio a while back, did they need certain rights like from marvel, or is there a way they can get around that and make a daredevil figure

Flash is DC and at the time Mattel made DC figures. Rey and Kofi had Batman and Joker gear too. SpinMaster currently has the DC license.

Even the Rollins without the X on the chest. It’s just half assed when they do

I think the figure should be doable. The tone of red Rey used was more of a purplish red as opposed to the more traditional red Daredevil uses. That and there aren't many other similarities besides the horns on the mask. Mattel could easily get away with it in all honesty. For copyrighted attires, it would literally need to have a lot of similarities or similar logos that could be identified as another licensed property. See his Captain America attire (it's way too obvious). Now, it would require some tooling on the mask so I'm not sure if they'd want to do that for a one off, but they did make Flash Rey when they had the license for DC. I would purchase it in all honesty. It was one of the first Wrestlemania's where my mother let me stay up for a bit.

McFarlane, Spin Master, Mattel (Hot Wheels) plus other companies like Mafex, Mezco, SH Figuarts all have been making DC figures for years as well. But I think the DD attire Rey wore is too close to DareDevil’s actual costume that it’s recognizable they would need to get approval from Marvel/Disney.

Right on. Not Mattel was the point though.

Assuming you’re referring to his WMXIX attire? What DD costume is that based off? It doesn’t look like any specific one to me but instead it looks as tho he took liberties with the design and kinda made it his own. It should be possible for them to make it unless there’s an exact costume in the comics I’m not aware of.

Mattel should easily be able to make it.

Boils down to either do it accurately or not at all. The Takeover Gargano entrance vest is so OUTLAW that it totally kills the figure when displayed with it, same with the Top Picks Rollins.

it’s inspired by the ben affleck film Yeah, inspired by but not really anything like it. Mattel should easily be able to make it. Exactly, my thoughts. I’m also a graphic designer and this discussion came up all the time in school. As long as it’s not too obvious that it’s inspired (aka Rey Mysterio “Caption America”), it should be fine. The only thing that Rey has in common with Affleck’s DD is the horns and even then the mask is different, it still has the eagle wings etc.

Here's the jakks one: I’ll ask Steve, so we could get some clarification. I still think this attire is very doable and would not infringe rights.

Sorry to double post, but Steve answered this question for me. He said the attire is “too close”, but if it’s possible will try and make it happen. Hope it does. It brings back flashbacks to my neighbors when I stood up to watch Wrestlemania.
Edit: Just thought about this.. how did Mysterio pop up through the Smackdown stage during his entrance? Did every arena have a platform with some sort of elevator?

They could maybe use the same mold as the flash figure and replace the bolts with the horns.
