Does anyone have any info on why Jim Neidhart did an angle with DX weeks after the Montreal Screw Job?? You would think after what they did to Bret weeks earlier that Jim would say, "Screw you, Vince!" and not come back for that night to work that angle with DX.

He was under contract to WWE and they wouldn't let him out unless he went out there to get humiliated.

He was under contract to WWE and they wouldn't let him out unless he went out there to get humiliated. Pretty much this. Vince didn’t think Bulldog was worth the trouble and let him go. But Jim was basically forced to allow himself to be humiliated before Vince would let him go (basically Vince being petty and thinking this was him getting one over on Bret).

Vince probably didn't want another black eye to go with the one Bret had already given him.

Did Bischoff even really want him? I recall Bischoff saying he had no desire to sign him TBH I don't even recall Jim or Bulldog in WCW at that time

What made the whole thing worse was later that night DX turned on Neidhart which made him still look disloyal to the Hart Family. If he had turned on DX instead it would've looked like he was playing them to get revenge.
Also I always thought Neidhart was on a pay by appearance contract so if that was the case then surely he didn't have to turn up.

Bulldog had major addiction problems way before that trap door incident in 98...

Bulldog had to pay $100k out of his own pocket to buy himself out of his contract. Neidhart had a lesser contract and rather than pay to get out of it, he agreed to do the DX humiliation.

Bischoff has said Neidhart was signed purely because they needed more talent for Thunder & as a favor to Bret. It was a "meh why not" kind of deal.
