Hi, does anyone have any tips on painting stubble? I want it to look as much like retail as possible. An example would be like the Bret Hart Survivor Series figure with the pink chair that came out recently. The other thing is I want to make sure it doesn't rub off easily. Recommendations on paints and techniques would be greatly appreciated. I'd want it to be able to hold up to some light play and not just chip off when it gets dropped or makes contact with another figure during play. Thanks in advance!

look up tutorials on dry brushing on youtube. Use this technique to get facial hair like that.
paints do not matter if you are new, because no matter what brushes and paints you use theyll turn out bad if you dont know how to use them properly.

Dry brushing or a stipple sponge would work best.

Thanks for the great replies, guys! I saw a couple of great videos so far. I'm also wondering if I need to seal it with anything? I intend to use these figures for light play and a big concern of mine is the paint wiping, chipping or rubbing off (especially other figures and staining them).

Darn. Sad to know that but thanks for the heads up. Guess I'll just have to be extra careful.

I use a grey sharpie and use it very lightly. In the case of customs when I have painted on skin tone, I use the sharpie lightly and then go back over with the skin tone very, very lightly. I will be positing some new stuff which will include example pf this. Not sure if this helps but it is what I do man

Works well for me The trick is to use it very lightly as shown here on this K Dog Custom.
