Think I’m going with Eddie vs Rey from 21. Just a fun fast match between two of my all time favorites. Hell of a way to open what I think is my favorite Wrestlemania.

Great question  I have two that always spring to mind. The Rockers vs The Barbarian & Haku: WrestleMania VII The Rockers had my all time favorite opening match at the 1991 Royal Rumble just a couple of months before, but I also really like this short match here. It started the show off on the right foot and despite what looks like a real mixture of styles I thought that all four guys worked really well together. Bret Hart vs Owen Hart: WrestleMania X I remember watching this and it was so awesome to get a match like this opening the show. This is just an awesome match and I remember going into it thinking that there was no way in hell that Owen Hart was going to beat Bret in general, even more so when he was also going to be wrestling for the WWF Championship later on in the show. |

I think this is why he's one of my favourites to watch, but both of these matches are great, so I'm going with Jericho Regal at WM17 & RVD/Regal at WM18. Both were great ways to start the show, not 5 star matches, hell probably not even close to being the best on the card either but I really liked both. William Regal was really good at wrestling wasn't he.

Bret/Owen is an easy answer, but it’s because it’s truely that good. Easily my favorite opener of all time.
Eddie/Rey, HHH/Bryan, Rey/Hardy, and Regal/RVD are others that also stick out to me.

Two personal favourites for me
Shawn v Tito at WM8 - first wrestlemania I saw in chronological order when I first started watching. Heenan a hoot on commentary (Ariba McIntyre) and the general buzz around the event
Hercules v Haku at WM5 - first WM I bought on vhs. Loved Haku around this time.

I really like singles wrestling matches for opening matches / not ladder or tags
Hhh/Bryan
Eddie/Rey
Edge/Del rio
I like those other 3 as well
