What do you see him doing if he stayed? For one Piper's Pit considering they filmed the one with the Brawler that was put on the Unreleased DVD. Wouldve been cool to see him interact with guys from this era.Just picture a Repo man or Shango as a guest. Or Sid before he left.
Feud wise I can see him and HBK considering they had that match prior to Mania.Plus you got Sherri in there so this no doubt wouldve been a fun feud.
Or if nothing else I wouldve been fine with him back in the booth bantering with either Perfect on Superstars or Bobby on Challenge

I like the idea of a feud with Shawn, the addition of Sherri makes perfect sense. From what I've read/heard, Piper really thought that Shawn had a lot of potential, I could see him working with HBK to help him out.
Had he stayed, would he have been Macho's tag team partner at the Survivor Series? I could see that happening. Flair and Piper had a feud the year prior. They could still do the Mr. Perfect turn, just have Mr. Perfect cause Flair and Razor the match. Then have Bobby, Flair, and Razor bad mouth Perfect every week until he finally snaps and turns face.
Piper and a Heel Doink could have been fun.
I would say they could have turned him heel and worked a program for the WWF title with Bret, but I'm not sure if fans wanted to boo Piper, so that may have been a waste. If they did go this route, maybe put him in Backlund's place. A heel Piper with the WWF title would have been fun.

He has a lot of history on PTW and with Flair(that was never fully resolved) so this definitely couldve been an option. And as far as a feud with Bret later on, Hell yes! Anything to see em back as a heel on WWF TV.

As much fun as the Michaels vs Martel feud was, Piper vs Michaels would have been great, like you said, with Sherri being involved it would have been a lot of fun. I was as SummerSlam 92 and when they introduced Piper I was excited then kind of bummed out that he did not have an actual match or do anything else. I grew up in Scotland and I freaking hate the bagpipes lol.

Maybe it’s a lack of imagination on my part but I can’t see him fitting in post WM. At best I see him involved in filler feuds with Skinner, Repo Man etc.
Having seen him put Bret over, I think a feud with Michaels wouldn’t be as effective. To me, it would tell the story that Piper is on a downward slope, rather than Shawn on the way up.

After Wrestlemania VIII happened, I just felt that was the passing of the torch for a lot of those old relic WWF stars. It seemed they didn't have a proper long term fit in the company after that, therefore Piper taking time off was the right decision.
I did enjoy his return in 1994 though for those few months, and then again in 1995 and 1996. But that was the perfect way to use Piper then. Until WCW came calling with big money and then Piper became a full time wrestler again.

It's tough to put him in matches with someone they need to make a star when he won't lose. I think he only lost to Bret either because he loved Bret or because he knew he was leaving. But he ruined matches by refusing to lose, IMO. He couldn't even be eliminated legally at the Royal Rumble 90. I know he was always involved in good feuds on paper where it's tough to chose a loser to take the pin but I think he was best suited for commentary or special appearance if he refuses to be pinned.
