I think shrink wrapped is the least likely due to cost implications Example: Currently: a figure is returned to a retailer. It goes through their system and is re-racked for sale. Easy. If shrink wrapped: a figure is returned. It presumably sounds need to go back to mattel, be inspected, re-shrink wrapped snd sent back knout to retailer who may not cary the line anymore of that series. Alternatively it’s not worth going through that process for say amazon who would liquidate it as they do a lot of return stuff but what about smaller retailers? It would be sn enormous headache I think it speaks to a bigger problem on here which is not considering all the logistical and cost implications - big example being when retail exclusives don’t come to the uk as min order quantities can’t be met s d prople say just remove the min order quantity but it’s there for a reason. Most likely cost of exporting the figures and all the tax etc implications. For basics I can see them doing what they’ve done before for those figures with action moves, the stretchy ones out now etc snd having open packaging. Why not for basics at the same price point as the stretchy ones. Basics must account for a large portion of their overall sales. If we say what, 60/70% then that’s already a huge drop in the plastic thry use. Even if basics were only 50% that’s already cutting plastic usage in half. More likely, Walmart accepts the return without inspecting the figure & accessories, re-shrink wraps the box itself and puts it back on the shelf. Do they have the facility for that?

But I doubt they would send the stuff back to Mattel to shrink wrap the figure/box again. If they have the shrink-wrap, they will just go that route. Or they will just use their saran wrap they have on the shelves...

Look at all the figures swaps we got already think of how bad it’ll be if the go to a package where you can’t see the figure, bad enough hasbro is going to this with marvel legends

I'm a MOC collector so this would suck if it happened. I'll most likely be done at that point completely if they make the switch

Put it in a paper sack, staple it shut, and write on it with a marker for all I care. Mint In Bag.

I love seeing your work with these package suggestions.
From the options, I like most would go with the tamper proof option, however, I’d assume this is the most expensive option, so that would need to be a consideration. If it was the way they go, why couldn’t the figure window be bigger? Then we could see the whole figure.
Interested to see how this plays out, could really impact Mattel (and the whole industry) negatively in my view.

Voted for the small shrink wrapped window option although I much prefer to be able to see the entire figure in the package instead of just it’s head & shoulders….I understand the concern & need for a package change but as a Moc collector, I just don’t know if I’ll stay in the game or not if I’m only able to look at a box sitting on the shelf

IF they kept a window, it would make the most sense.
The QC on these figures is not good enough to justify purchasing "blind boxes".
And this is coming from a loose collector.
Woof.

I still don't get why people do MOC. I think they are all planning to sell someday, hoping to make a big profit. I always say if I want to see figures in packages, I can just walk down the aisle of a store.

I love seeing MOC collections where it looks like a toy store(!). I think it's weird how some people can't understand or accept why people like to collect MOC... I mean, it's fine for grown men to play with figures or have a display of them - but keeping them MOC? How strange... 🤷♂️

Ultimate Editions and the original Legends packaging are the nicest Mattel has done in my oppinon. They display really nice. I'm looking forward to Elite 100. I hope it's a throwback to Elite 1. Those were nice boxes too. Quite Iconic.

Opening the figures and displaying them on the shelves is great, but keeping them clean is hard to do sometimes, much easier to Swiffer dust the boxes than the figures which is why I don't open figures as well.

That’s a tough one I’ve been doing a lot of autos lately I think a full box would be alright but QC lacks quite a bit anymore.

I get it saves the environment but I honestly think that it's stupid that we have come to this. And then there's the price increases it is just so idiotic

I usually buy two of anything my kids or I want to open and keep one MOC, but I’ve been considering ending the MOC collection. This would definitely push me out of the MOC game.

I saw the new line of Thor figures today at Target that have no plastic or window. It's interesting for sure.
