The recent plastic free packaging thread really got people talking so I thought I'd put some of the ideas in that thread into a poll to see what everyone's preference would be. I think this is coming sooner rather than later, so it'd be good to give Mattel some insight into what everyone thinks on here.

I guess this poll is for only if they go plastic-free and don't get a vote for keep it as it is?

Shrink wrapped is a good idea. Apple have been doing that for years. As long as it's biodegradable. Stops people from swapping figures which I hate seeing.

I’m def cutting down on my Mattel collection if they do away plastic. No more moc for me. Some characters I only buy to keep moc so I’ll be buying less characters as well.

From the choices, I'll go with the shrink-wrapped, at least that way you can tell if anyone tampered with it or not. Though, if they go the shrink-wrapped route, I would get rid of the window and have the figure fully displayed, kind of like the way they have those new rubber-type WWE figures of the Rock, Cena, and Reigns - just put shrink-wrap around it so that people can't steal the head or hands, etc. As a MOC collector, you want to see the entire figure, not just the head, but the body and attire as well (you also want to see some of the accessories like a cloak, or jacket, or championship belt). And quality control issues aren't just limited to the face.

I voted for a small, (preferably biodegradable) plastic window, because shrink-wrapping the entire package kinda counteracts the reduction even if it's a more sustainable plastic. It's also worth noting that bio-films at this stage do require composting to break down properly, which means you're either doing it yourself or municipal areas need to incorporate it into their recycling streams.

Also I assume from the way you people guard your figures against tampering, that your houses are full of cleverly hidden traps like a lich's dungeon.

This is like McDonalds switching to plastic free toys. It's going to make them look good to all those people who don't buy their sh*t, but their stock holders aren't going to like it. As if toy companies need one more obstacle to jump over as they continue to raise the cost of all of their elastic products.
I want to be able to see it. No matter what they do, I don't want blind boxes. The QC is generally too poor to take that kind of gamble.

There needs to be a full picture of the figure on the box. Maybe a cool graphic of the wrestler on the front and a window and photo of the figure on the back.

I think shrink wrap is the way to go. Even it it isn't biodegradable, it has a much smaller footprint than the window and bubble packaging. I would support a fourth option with a much bigger window behind the shrink wrap.
Of course it isn't foolproof; plastic wrap inevitably snags and tears and I can imagine people poking holes in the window.

I totally understand the reasoning of it if and when they eventually do it, but for MOC collectors, if you can't see the figure then I can't see it working. Sorry, but I was mostly a MOC collector for the past 12 years and if it's just a box with no figure in site then there's no way I'm buying.
Loose collector in me now talking though, if they can show the whole figure but keep it well protected against damage/dirt/potential stealing and guarantee the figure is as mint as we expect then yeah it'd work.
This will be a guessing game to start with with these companies. Try things, some will work and some won't and eventually we'll get there. Patience is needed though.

Out of those 3, plastic wrapping with small open window.

I don't care either way. I buy most of my figures online anyways.

As a moc collector, there is no plastic free option that I’ll be ok with

As moc collector I hate this. If I can't see the figure or display it unopened. Why buy it other then to open it.

You got to have a window to see the figure. Agree. And the full figure, not only his head.
